Any volunteers??
I'm local. As in Spring Cypress and SH 249. Can't get more local than that!

No problem at all. I expect the first prototype to be finished on monday.

Can't wait to see the final product. When do you think these will be ready to ship? I will have time the week of Thanksgiving to install if you think they done and out before then.

George,

Just curious if the lens cracks (rock or whatever) or maybe just get beat up from daily driving, how much would it be for replacement lenses?

I doubt they will be in your hands by thanksgiving, but possibly the week after. The hella projectors are the part that going to be difficult to get...at least to start. I've talked to my distributor to make sure they'll have extras in stock for the GP

I highly doubt that daily driving will have an effect on the structure of the lens, however i've known evn my SW polycarbonate lenses to crack with sufficiant force (i.e. another car...lol) I will be doing an impact test on thee PETG lenses to see if they hold up to my standards. If they don't, the next batch will be polycarb.

A single replacement lens is $75 shipped and the pair would be $125

That's cool, either way im not in a huge hurry. As for the replacement lenses, that's a good price. I figure even if they get pitted up from daily driving, it's not bad to replace.

This looks like a great deal. Unfortunately, this year's heads and cam swap left me with just enough money to get a 6pt roll bar put in.

Next year though, first mod will be this light set up. Maybe by then a HID hi beam will be available. I don't mind cutting into the front wheel wells a bit. Long as the stock front tires fit.

The reason i'm not offering HID highs is there is no discernable difference in output. I've had 2 of the GP spot savers customers request each of the offered high beam upgrades. I will be doing comparison shots of the base 55w, 100w, toshiba HIR, and a 35w HID once the equipment arrives.

Yes.

I'm still awaiting the finished brackets (should be finished by thursday) Which means I should have a finished product by friday.

The good news is that I have the first thermoformed components. The trimming of these is a FAR cry from the ease of the original light cannons shroud. I'm glad to say that i'm getting plenty of use out of my new belt sander and band saw which DRASTICALLY speed up the proceess and cut down on the smell.

I only had a few hours at the shop this evening so i only got one side trimmed. Here are the pics:

With projectors: (they're just sitting there, not mounted)

The PETG lens material is very strong. While it's not as strong as lexan, it is extremely resistant to cracking. My thermoformer demonstrated by throwing a brick at a 1x1' sheet and i watched the brick bounce off without ANY cracking. The good news is that PETG is also less prone to scratching than polycarb. Any question i had about this as a lens material is completely gone. nevertheless, I will still be performing my favorite impact ballistics test on polycarb, PETG scrap and the original BPP lens material. This will be followed by a scratch resistance test.

The irony of it all.... my shop currently has 10 of the 12 flourecent lights out making evening work well...in need of enlightening (I know i'm horrible) :o

The next update will feature the first mounted and output pics with the new lenses.
