C5 vs C7

That is the worst possible angle for the C7.
Yes, I get that this car is technologically advanced. So is a Prius. It's ugly too and I wouldn't be caught dead in one.
No, I'm not saying a C5 is "better" than a C7; I am saying the C5 is better looking. So is a C6, even the base model which isn't all that attractive.
Note to C6 owners: Please, please buy C7s in large numbers to drive down the cost of C6Zs. Especially one of you guys with a nice Atomic Orange one. I'd like to talk to you in a few years.
But when you LOOK at a sports car, what do you FEEL?
When I look at a hot car, I feel it. Let's call it turned on. There is a visceral reaction when you see a hot car. I have none of that with the C7. I know full well what it is capable of, and I would love to have the drivetrain swapped over to my car, but even later when they resell as used cars.... I don't ever see myself owning one. Closest I would get is a C6Z... which is really the only C6 I find "attractive."
As for the issue in the very first post... the only thing I consider problematic is the shorting issue. Anything and everything else is easily replaced or fixed. For a $70,000 car.... I tend to agree that I would want it to be without basic issues, and I believe the C7 is just that: without basic problems. This fit and finish or working out weak supplier parts will be remedied. These ARE GM cars, after all. My first C5 had weather stripping falling off and BSM misaligned at delivery as well as headlights and interior lights shorting/failing and eventually a list of other problems which were entirely factory related. But think of the car you ARE able to get out of a C7 for $70,000.... performance comparable to much more expensive cars.
But like I said above... GM has not earned my greenbacks. It's a wonderful car. Too bad it's just not sexy. Like meeting a girl with the perfect ***, then she turns around and has a hook nose. If you got a piece of it, you'd tear it up and leave it... not hold onto it and love it.

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
Too bad the Viper isn't selling. That car owns the C7 in appearance and build. Though I am sure a supercharged non track-friendly version will come out so there is a C7 with more power and/or faster 1/4 times.
I will sit back and hold out hope for the expected Z version of the C7.
However, I might suggest to you, in the fture, that you post the relevant correct information from the book you recommended so that any bad information is corrected as rapidly as possible. I certainly don't want to spread any mis information.
I am sure the recommended book is nice, yet I have passed on many an opportunity to pick it up. I have read a heck of a lot of side bars in magazines, if that helps.
I do occasionally like books about machines, just find other machines more interesting. I recommend the motor book I just finished about Fire Engines.
While I am unable to quote Corvette literature, I now know the difference between a Fire TRuck , Fire engine, and plug ugly.
I don't have any Corvette bar ware either. In truth the only GM book I ever read was the John Deloran book about GM. Probably because it was negative.
AS an aside, I saw the original shark corvette a couple of week ends ago. Never knew it was a two tone fade paint job. With little shark gills on the front sides. A shark car. Surprising to me, because I always assumed that it was a car with design elements inspired by the shark, instead of a car made to look like a shark, which of course, goes in two different directions, one mechanical, the other organic.
I do not know the design goals of the project. I simply looks like they wanted to make a car that had gills, a few little fins and was two tone painted like a shark. Not as sophisticated as I expected , yet a great part of the appeal.
P.S. My Corvette is black. You might want to fact check that book . Bwaaahaa ha ha.

I think they did a great job with the C7, aside from the taillights and I love my 01 Convertible but If someone offered me a C7 straight up of course I'd take it but I'd rather have $50k and a nice C5 right now.
You'll have 60,000 plus your 15,000 C5
I also agree with you ... I would take one in a heart beat though ..

Look think about this, A guy spends $$70,000 for a C7 and in 5-8 years it's only worth $30,000.
You spent $60,000 and it's only worth half as much too.
Damn.....lost my train of thought....LOL!

my friend....
My wife tells me it's only money you can't take it with you when you die. That's what she tells me when the UPS comes with her shoes....
