BUT
After seeing the ground effects, and the New grill detail with scoops blacked out and the rear spoiler, I would love to see the wind tunnel numbers. I have to say with the New technology, a super strong chassis,( 60% stronger than any previous chassis ) even with the top off its 20 % stronger than a fixed roof C6 Z06, and that world class engine, that can run 4, 6 or 8 cylinders boosted. Seven speed manual or 8 speed auto paddle, claimed to be the best in the world. I have to say that GM brought me back. The interior was always nice, Its still Euro looking but it's beginning to move my soul. The Stock C7 still does little for me, but the Zo6 like the C6 Z06 are completely different animals. The C7 Z is a serious world class automobile. It's the whole package that works for me. I was not impressed with the standard C7 , but the whole Z06 package is a different concept. Its low to the ground, a big deal for me.. its still not a Beach boys kind of car, but then its not the 60's and 70's either. IM sad that automotive design has moved away from the American Muscle look in favor of the exotic look, after all for 50 years it was American muscle. The bottom line is its still a Corvette. and the C7 Z06 does make me proud. Just like my first sighting of the C7 was an honest perception. so is my first impression of the C7 Z

Since we are moving away from tradition. The rear tail lights are less of an issue. Do they take their styling from the Camaro ? Yes they do. Is that the end of the world? No.
Another factor is the C7Z06 is 60,000 dollars more than a brand new C6 was 9 years ago.

Yup the C 07 is a beaut. I'm curious how much this will run new.

I'm guessing they have left plenty of performance still on the table for the ZR1 version. Like 750+hp and a few more tricks...I can barely afford the C5Z I just purchased so I could be dead by the time one of these C7 Z's get into my price range. But they do look...WOW!

The decision at this point is that there will be no ZR1. Those words were stated by GM Today. They do however have a 750 HP Race ready C7 Z06 with this special option with ceramic brakes and special cup tires. Estimated MSRP 130,000 dollars.
Since the C7 Z06 replaces the ZR1 with a 118,000 MSRP, IM guessing the new C7 Z will be between 110,000 and 120,000 dollars, with the race ready version at 130,000.

If it plays out so that someone can purchase a 750hp race ready C7Z for $130k, that is a hell of a high watermark for supercars. You would not find many cars at that pricepoint to even come close.

High water mark???? That's a low water marked compared to the 200,000 and 300,000 exotics it can easily stand shoulder to shoulder . The C7 Z06 is 1/3 the price of the F 12 and can perform rings around it. Even the 9 year old C6 Zo6 has better numbers.
A High water mark is the highest number in any given sampling.. in this case we are talking price, and at 130K its far from a High water mark compared to other super cars or exotics.

2013 Ferrari F12berlinetta, MSRP from $315,888
The Ferrari F12 hits 60 mph from a standstill in 3.6 seconds and runs the quarter mile in 11.3 seconds at a screaming 131.7 mph. It stops from 60 mph in just 106 feet and pulls an estimated 0.99 g on the skid pad.

Very unimpressive 0-60 and 1/4 mile times for a 300,000 dollar + car.
I chose this comparison because the C7 Corvette has taken many styling queues from the F12.

I meant a high watermark for others to match (in $$$:performance). Thanks for proving my point about finding anything close for the same $$$

<edit> I think the C7 looks better than the F12, too.

you must be laughing at yourself.. nice back peddling, a simple thank you for explaining the definition would have been much better,,,which you obviously did not know.
You said 130K was a high water mark for super cars.
130K is a very low water mark for a super car..
I don't know of another super car that can come close to this low water mark.
Now if you are talking a bout regular production cars like a Dodge RT, or a Mustang Cobra.. they are not super cars. Not in the same league

The F12 at 300,000 + dollars is a high water mark compared to the C7 Z06.
Got it ?

In the realm of super cars in the 300,000 to 1 million dollar range they represent the high water marks. while there are a dozen or so cars that are above the 1 million dollar range in cost.
There is a 45 year old corvette that just sold, which set the high water mark @ 3.4 million dollars, for any used Corvette.
Bill aka ET

Nothing could be further from the truth than saying a C7 Z06 sets any kind of high water mark other than the C7 sets the high water mark for any GM production vehicle to date.

I love my c5 and all but no c7 I have ever seen just "blends in" with other traffic unless it's with 100 other c7's. C7 is the **** and with the new z06 coming out the new vette is flexing it's muscles. I can't wait to sucker one into a race

ET,

I (and I'm sure most others) knew exactly what 66-dtsv was saying. He was paying the zooted up vette you mentioned a sincere compliment. You're beginning to sound like a bored old guy whose got nothing better to do then bust folks chops for whatever they have to say and show your higher intellect.

We get it. I'm sure you're better then that. Give it a bit of a break will ya?

$130,000 for a 750hp factory rocket is a steal no matter how you slice it. We all agree on that!!! (I havn't seen the reveal, so I'm assuming it was somewhere in that presentation???) And I'm sure both versions are going to embarrass cars that cost three times the price. Way to go GM!!!

100% false. Tadge has said that the z07 (highest z06 package) will be under $100k.

WE will see.
the ZR1 is 118 K MSRP. I doubt they will drop the price by 18,000 on a car that offers 150 more HP and torque. I said I was guessing based on the MSRP of the 2013 ZR1.

That's what I am talking about Chicago..... this is what prompted me to build my C5Z.... I may not beat em... But they won't be putting bus lengths on me either...
