For right now i'm just going to rock it with the stock ls1 heads. Down the road i'll look at doing bigger heads/intake but for now i'm not taking the heads off.
I got talked into the stage 3 by my tuner... and pretty much everyone lol. It's not a car that gets a lot of miles. And i have a pretty high tolerance for NVH... So i guess we'll see how it is lol.
Cool, you're good. If your tuner is familiar with the cam, then you'll be happy. Tuning is the most important part of a cam install.
Make no mistake, cam and gears are fun and I may do another cam/gears car in the future - love a lumpy cam idle! If you want great stock driveability, MILD cam components and insane power - you could just jump ahead to the centrifugal supercharger route. I am bone stock LS1 (even stock exhaust and stock manifolds) and am trapping 125mph in the 1/4.

The original build on this car was going to go blower. But i'm going to be 1600 bucks into this cam with the tune... for 1600 bucks it'll be a ton of fun...
And the reality is. i never go to the drag strip. it's all back roads, autox, and just messing around. So 4.10's, with lightweight flywheel and clutch, and a cam... should be an absolute hoot.
i'm also thinking about ditching the stock replacment HB i have and going with this one...

I cannot disagree. The 4.10s will be a blast and also make 1st gear a challenge where you have to be careful to not go up in smoke - but that is a fun challenge.
You will be able to tell for sure if that diff mount is worth it or not and curtails hop/drivetrain shake!!

i may swap out the rubber motor mounts for more solid ones too while i'm at it... hmmmmm
Wow, my hats to you sir. What an amazing journey, build and an awesome thread!!! How difficult was that HUD install and dash removal/replacement? I'm assuming you had to replace the dash for one with the HUD window? Might be looking into doing this eventually since I have a bit of a cracked dash that's always bothered me, and with the HUD that's a two for one!

if you buy a hud dash you're ahead of the game, but to get the Hud to fit you can cut out the area where it goes. what you cut out is literally pressed into the back of the dash. the underside. so you just follow the lines and it cuts out perfectly. then the bezel covers everything.
it wasn't too bad. about a 6 pack worth of work lol.
1. clutch. i'm thinking carolina ls7 clutch package. it has their lightened flywheel. and i'll also do the remote bleed and gm slave.
some have suggested the master cylinder too... so i might do that as well.
While that's off i'm going to do the bearings/couplers in the tq tube. i ordered bearings already and about to order the gm oe couplers. unless someone has an upgrade that i should do.
2. rear end. i'm going with the 4.10s... here's what it comes with:
Thanks for contacting us. We can build you a 4.10 with the following
New Motive 4.10 Gear New C6Z Shafts (2 piece right side shaft) New lock New OEM Clutches New Seals and Gaskets New HD Springs Media Blasted and Painted Case $1776 shipped.
3 Rib case add $275.
i'll save on shipping because it's within driving distance of some of my customers for work. so i'll just pick it up one day that i'm on the road.
so that's the next phase of this build... still figuring out if my tuner is going to do the tuning or if i'm going to teach myself...

Torque and slicks break cases. If you are not going to drag race at the track I would think your case would be fine as street tires should break free much easier than slicks on a prep track. Clutch can be a can of worms.... external balance pins, stock clutches sticking to the floor when revving above 6000 rpms (which a cam will want to do). Short answer, call the owner of Monster Clutch (Steve) , tell him what your going to do, pick the right Monster Clutch, send him your stock flywheel (after you mark the location clocked to crank) he will match balance the new setup to match the old. Headache averted!!!

that's a good point... i hadn't thought of the match balance.
Match balancing can be a huge issue and finding a local shop to do it is a big pain. Incredible that Monster offers the service. That's the way to go.
I've got a Monster LT1-S in my car, I love it. I bought it before Monster started offering this service, so I had to find a shop to match balance. Most thought what I was asking for was insane.

LT1-S here too. I could not be happier! Probably can go with a single disk though if he is N/A and is not planning any drag racing.

Yea, LT1-S is likely overkill here. It is in my car, but I wasn't sure if I'd be adding more power in the future and wanted the stock-like pedal effort. I'm not at all disappointed.
yeah i'd prefer not to have a super heavy pedal. but i can deal lol.
I could do something like this... for my power levels should be fine.
When it is on sale, the twin disc does not cost that much more. Twice the material = tons of holding ability and longer wear. I hate making performance part DECISIONS.....

Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
