Sorry to bring up a old thread but it has some great info in it. I recently traded my trans am for my friends 98 vette, and I noticed that the passenger side floor mat feels wet. Today I removed it and the carpet was a little wet as well, and there appears to be mold on the passenger seat rack. I plan to take the interior apart today and clean up everything. I could not pinpoint a leak anywere, and it has not rained in about 5 days. It is cold and when I do drive the car I have the heater on, which works good but not great. I have owned many f-bodies in my life so when I see a wet passenger side floor I think heater core, but after searching through these posts I think I will try to clean out the utters for the hvac system. If they were clogged would it cause my heater to not run a 100% as well? Its warm but not hot like my old C5 was. When you remove the carpet, will you be able to see were the leak is coming from?
YES,,, If you remove the carpet, you should be able to see the entry point for the water.
Some things to examine:
1. The HVAC Air box has a condensate drain. It exits on the passengers side fire wall just below the area of the passengers side head. Its a 90 deg rubber elbow. If it clogs, the air box can flood back into the cabin.
2. The cowl drains need to be checked. The one on the passengers side should be disconnected and flushed out with a garden hose. DO NOT remove it, Just flush it out.
3. Have someone hose down the passengers side of the car starting low on the door and yiu check the inside for water entry around the door seals. You will see it run in if there is a leak. Run the hose up further and further and see if you have leaks.
As far as heat,, My C5 RUNS ME OUT of the car when the heat is on HIGH!
Pull up the DIC and read the DTCs.

LEAKS!! Here we go again! I have been down this road a few times and here is what I recommend that you do to fix it with the LEAST amount of time, money and pain!
Put your hand in and milk out the trash.
I will continue this in another POST!
Thanks for providing guidance to those of us who were not aware of the necessity to do this maintenance.
I milked out some dried up leaves out of one of the three udders on the driver's side. I could see that the crushed leaves have fallen on a flat surface covering the bottom of the car. I am going to stick a vacuum cleaner hose down to the crushed leaves and vacuum them out. If I didn't vacuum them out, how do they exit that "pan"?
On the passenger's side of my C5 Z06 I was able to reach down and pull the rubber udder tube up to where I could feel the udder exit was dry and free of debris with my fingers as I couldn't tell where the debris would go if I flushed it with a garden hose. That was a mistake. When I tried to route it back down, there are alot of wires, etc and I didn't know where the tube was supposed to be properly routed.
If anyone has a picture or advice on how to make sure that I have threaded it down the same path it came from. Otherwise, I'll take off the wheel and fender well access panel and see have to decide whether I routed it properly or not.
There is a flat surface under the udder on the passenger's side as well. How does the debris that comes out of the udder exit from that flat surface. Is there an exit somewhere in the flat surface that is large enough to allow the debris to escape?
Yep... Thats why I recommended not removing it. I pulled one out of a wrecked C5. There was NO easy way of reinstalling it other than getting into the wheel well hole and pulling it back through the space that it came out of..

It's back in there now, not crimped anywhere and should drain. Don't know if it's routed properly but it should work. Don't know if the water and debris is flushed over wiring but don't think so from what I can feel and see.
How is the the water and debris that comes out of the udders supposed to exit the car.
If I open up the wheel well access panel and I'll find out.
Thank you for this write up. Someone linked me to this thread. Someone didn't maintain my Corvette before me even though it is beautiful inside and out.
I spent all day removing the three udders around the wiper motor, the long tube behind the battery and the small drain through the firewall. All were plugged but the udders had 3-4 inches of dirt and debris in them completely clogging them. Now that my Corvette is garaged or covered hopefully that won't happen again. I was very fortunate my wiper motor dried out and went back to normal operation. My wiper motor led to being directed to this important thread. I went through a high pressure car wash and my wipers wouldn't stop with the switch off. I had to remove the fuse until I was directed to this thread. Anyone that gets a C5 Corvette should certainly check all these areas. Every single one of my water drains was clogged and this thread with pics was extremely helpful and very important. Thank you!!!
All this info and pics are great as always. FYI, that link only took me to the main site, here's a direct link to the 2000-2004 water leak guide with lame stick drawings but still a decent added resource:

I just bought a 2001 Z06. After a hard rain today I have water dripping in the pass footwell. It is dripping down the kick panel. I also have water in the center trunk compartment. If weather allows it I will be pulling out all the interior and looking for leaks. I'll also be installing some frost King. I've already put it in the trunk rear wheel wells all the way to the back of the seats. I hope that doesn't make it harder to trace down my trunk leak.
And Bill great post brother. I will be trying to take pics as I proceed. BTW how do you install the reflectix ? Just over the FK?
Ok I found where the leak is coming from on the pass side. I just don't know how to stop it. The picture is where the water is coming in. It looks like it's getting behind the weatherstripping going around the side glass. It's wet behind it.

Heere is a link from a member that stopped his. Hope this helps.
Just use some BLACK RTV. Tape up what you don't want RTV on and GOOP it in . Tape it in place and after it dries pull off the tape and it shouldn't leak..
Zach
I got it from a Stealership. Call Gene Culley and get it from him..
Its actually a HOOD SEAL. Heres the info:

LEAKS!! Here we go again! I have been down this road a few times and here is what I recommend that you do to fix it with the LEAST amount of time, money and pain!
First things first! REMOVE the carpet and jute underlayment! You can reinstall the seat if you want. With the carpet removed, you will NO DOUBT be able to track down and PIN POINT the area where the leak originates!
Next! While your carpet is out, you can use a carpet wet and dry cleaning machine to get the carpet spotless. Once it is clean put it somewhere that it will dry COMPLETLY! If it doesnt dry properly, it will mildew and STINK!!! The humidity will also damage electronics!
You have a large single drain tube on the passengers side of the windshield cowl. You will need to remove the battery to get to it. It snakes down through a whole bunch of stuff.
Here is what it looks like: Area behind the battery
Tube removed from the car! Looks like something from the movie Creature from the black lagoon!!!
This is the end of the tube!
The tube is soft rubber. If it is solid, it is clogged!!!
There are three small udders on the drivers side. If they clog, the water can destroy your wiper motor!!!
Put your hand in and milk out the trash.
I will continue this in another POST!
I got the big one from under the battery tray, but not the one on the drivers side, by the way what knucklehead at GM would have the Idea to put electronics both under the battery tray that could leak, and the BCM under the A/C drainage pathway that could leak?

OK, found some leaves in the cow utters on the driverside, but they weren't compacted and causing a blockage, is there any othe pathway that could divert water into the duct work leading to the blower motor?
Maybe I should start a new thread on this, but when I took out my dashboard to fix the HUD unit's secondary mirros pivot pin I noticed a large gap between the drivers door window and the weather stripping on the removable roof panel, the driverside door also creeks when closing it, I looked at the hinges but they don't seem to have hinge pin bushings like my blazer has, is there a way to align the door and or window to the roof panel seal?
