Personally I think the ignition surround looks like crap and you/we should build a new piece or find a button that will fill in the hole in the Radio bezel surround... something that lights up would be very nice!!!! I've been watching several ignition rings on EBay that light up but do not know the diameter of them...
I really REALLY wanna test this but am too low on Mod money right now! I'm working on it though....
Will this unit allow the car to automatically lock the doors like normal when you reach 10mph or will the fob unlock it as soon as it gets locked because the fob is in range of the car?

I believe that function is a separate feature of the car, and the reason I say that is because of the 97-99's with the passive entry feature still locked when rolling.

I can't think of any advantage for a push button start. Can anyone tell me why you would go to the expense and trouble just so you didn't have to turn the key? You'd still have to carry the fob, and you'd have to bypass the key pellet, and the column lock. I must not see the big picture.
I'm working on a way to install this button onto the bracket. Still looking for someone to purchase the first unit and install it. I'm asking $495 just to pay for the parts involved. I'll be involved 100% with install help and any issues. If for some reason it does not work, you get your money back.
But, until I have a nicely installed button with some pics for you guys, it will be a few more days. Who ever forks the money for this must also have the column lock bypass installed and will need to cut the plastic cover for the ignition key hole. I need to supply two small brackets and have to create them.

I'm interested in helping out. My car has the CLB already installed. Please let me know if I can help out with the first run.

Fantastic thread. its exciting to see somthing like this come together. The only thing I did not see mentioned is will there be a delay when you press the start button beetween ACC and starter engaged to allow the dial sweeps and dic "hello" message ( Corvette by Cheverolet).
Hmmmm That might be more trouble and bump the already high cost up more then it's worth. And NO I didn't mean OVER priced... I understand where all the costs come from and it's justified IMO...
Although a pressure switch in the Driver's seat that activates that would be cool!
When I first thought of doing this, I was thinking of relocating the ignition switch to where the power outlet is in the center console and then adding the push to start button on the dash. I was hoping to be able to controll off and acc via the relocated ( and lockable ) switch but have the push to start hot wired but keeping the clutch safety switch active to avoid inadvertant starts... Not sure if this could be a cheaper option in the future or not?

I have that implemented as standard operation. I usually wait myself a few seconds for the fuel pump to prime and pressure to be created before I start cranking, or else my Supra sits cranking for a bit longer. I have a 2-3 second delay to account for that.
As for an update, I haven't done anything else. I am still waiting on that circuit diagram of the ignition switch positions. Even though I have a good idea of what each position does and which contacts are closed, I still need to know the power routing through those contacts. I'm not ready to fork $140 on a shop manual just yet. Was hoping someone could scan it or possibly allow me some access to a manual.

Thats really the only missing link.
I've looked and have not had any luck finding the ignition pinouts for some reason. I will keep looking.
