The receiver IS in the same location on a Convertible.

You DO have to replace the key fobs, but the 01-04 fobs are MUCH cheaper.

Why do you think the older TPS would not fit the new wheels?

If his TPS and fobs are original, it may still be a good idea to do the "upgrade" even if the TPS would fit, as the 98 TPS & Fob are getting pretty old by now.

My 99 came without any fobs and the tire pressures are reading 0. So I think this may be the way to go in my case. Great information.

Try to reprogram your sensors 1st, you can usually pick up used fobs cheap too

My install with a DIY harness that will cost you nothing as everyone will have one of these in their household.

Replaced 12102635 with a 4 pin floppy disk molex connector.

You have to trip the tabs on the edge and it fits.

solder a jumper wire to the end and makes for an easy install

So, I bought the kit and had the same fuze problem (you guys saved me a lot of time). I have new wheels and tires being installed. Easy question, just sanity check I was going the use a speaker magnet for the tire sensor learning! Good Idea, or not!

A speaker magnet should work OK for reprograming the sensors.

I looked into buying the upgraded TPS, but went with OEWheels . . . all 4 for $140. I felt my ROI was a little better than going the other route with the newer TPSs. Anyway, the link is http://oewheelsllc.com/TPMS-Sensors_...ssure-Sensor_2

BTW, when programming, make dang sure you use a very strong magnet. Chev use to make a doughnut magnet just for the older TPSs. Our stealership had one and it worked like a charm when I couldn't get but 1 -3 at a time to program. Once I put the doughnut on, it was easy as 1, 2. 3, 4. I have 3 piece wheels and they are a little thicker than the magnet was good for that I was using. Of course, if you can get your hands on an old hard drive magnet, these will work great. BTW, I used this type magnet till my wife threw it away because she had problems pulling notes off the refrigerator when I put them under it . . . LOL. Good luck.

Old thread, I know. But thanks Mark... good old Search totally saved me hours of my life last night as I was about ready to send back the receiver out of frustration.

$89 for four sensors

http://www.ebay.com/itm/251183339844...84.m1439.l2649

$46 for two fobs (should have got a third)
http://www.ebay.com/itm/300832377079...84.m1439.l2649

And the receiver from Gene. All done, programmed, installed... but I think I need the antennae for the receiver... I'll have to search for that.

The later version C5 TPMS/FOB receiver does not have the same antenna design as the early units, however the antennas are both self contained in/on the receiver "boxes" themselves. Only the early style had the two, long, plastic antennas with soft foam (anti-rattle) discs on the ends.
If you have the receiver, there is nothing extra to buy.

Do I need to order the Sensor Mounting Nuts or will the ones from the old sensors work?

hello, my name is antoine and live in france
i've got problem with this swap from 2000 c5 tpms to 2001+ c5 tpms

the remote works fine, and 2 years ago, the tpms from OEWheels works fine but not now
i have buy 4 news sensors from oewheels (the bay) but don't work when i try to learn with the good procedure

i've checked the fuse number 28, no problem, and the remote works well so i don't know what happens and what could be the solution

in france i don't know who have, like me, a 2001+ sensor with US tpms (315 mHz, not the 4xx mHz)

maybe someone could help me ?

how to test the receiver ? what is the voltage to work ? if the remote work the receiver is ok and so why the sensors are not detected ?

thank you for your interest

Do you have matching parts? The receiver, fobs, and TPMS must all be either the 2001+ or the '97-'00 parts. I have heard that the European versions are different too. Whichever system you are using must have all these parts from that system.

I am not sure if you are saying the remote fobs work and the TPMS don't. If that is the case, it may be because the magnet used to learn the sensors is not strong enough or in the wrong position. On mine, I tried putting the magnet by the valve stem and it would not work. I put the magnet inside the barrel of the wheel just inside of the valve stem and they would program. I think that is closer to the sensor than trying from the end of the valve stem.

Good luck.

i hope it's just that
i've destroy 2 HP samsung and clarion for their magnets lol but don't work (juste once, or maybe twice, it works so i don't want to abandon but never go to the front right) and it's very very hard

maybe it's juste the magnet not strong ... i've bought a round magnet on ebay especialy for this ... hope have better luck with it (very long time to travel to france the magnet ....12 days since ordered ...)

It has been a long time since I did this, but IIRC, it took more than a few seconds for the horn to honk when I "learned the TPMS sensors".

If you have not already tried it, I would try holding the magnet in position for at least 30 seconds.

I did this a while ago to my car and have one tip. Open the old recever box and remove it's contents. Install contents of new reciever in there(you will not be using the new box). Requires minor modification to (original) box and a couple zip ties to keep it closed. This allows everything to install back in the original mounting bracket. There is no way for the newer reciever to fit in the original mounting bracket since it has a different housing.
