I'll scream if it's the tune.

Admittedly, after taking a 3 week break from the car, I'm itching to get into the garage again tonight. Hoping to have the driveline 100% installed, rear suspension reinstalled, and rear section of the exhaust reinstalled tonight. That way Friday and Sunday can be reserved for downpipe/turbo manifold reinstallation, and pulley/steering rack reinstallation.
Yeah I just did the DRM rack bushing mod in bro's Z06 and that rack job really sucks, especially with the oil cooler and lines being in the way.

Two days. TWO F***ING DAYS. Two pain wrenched, blood drawing, contorted days I've been trying to get the go(%^mn clutch hydraulic line connected. It was connected when I took the driveline out. Now the ends don't even F***ING REACH EACH OTHER! My arm is raw from being shoved between the bellhousing and firewall from rubbing on the braided fuel lines, I have multitudes of cuts on my hand. I've had it. I actually was pacing the garage looking for something to throw or break I was so agitated about 20 minutes ago, so I realized that I HAD to stop lest I do something stupid. I just can't believe that though it sits as it came out, the clutch lines won't meet each other.

I have about had it with this car.

I was going to do the DRM bushing while I had my rack out for head/cam. The darn rack wouldn't go into the bolt bracket with that DRM bushing installed. Once I put the OEM rubber one in it slid right in place. It must have been just thick enough to cause an interference.

Hi Sean,

Time to take a break. Jump in the shower and clean-up and go hang out on the couch.

My guess is that you don't have the clutch slave side of things correct. I'll go out to the garage and get you some pictures from my Bro's 2001 Z06 that is up on the lift.

I have had the same feeling many times. Just ease up on yourself, tomorrow is another day.

Whenever I finish up my project it will be the last one for me for a long time. I have been wrenching away for the last 4 + years on mine or my bro's vettes and frankly I'm just sick of it.

The problem is the stock rack bushing is slightly more ply-able and thus the bracket is too tight.

The trick to installing it after hours of ripping my hands to shredds was to send the bro over to home depot to buy some threaded rod and a few washers and nuts.

Cut a piece of the threaded rod to size. Slip through the mounting bracket, slide on one washer then (3) nuts and a washer. Lock two nuts together on side and then use the other one to spread the bracket out wide enough to fit the rack and bushings back in.

Just go slowly so that you don't over do it and break off ears on the cross-member.

It's a really crappy job.

I actually made sure it was oriented exactly as it was when it came out. The line coming off the slave was pointed upwards towards the front of the car and rested in the little notch in the bell housing. It's exactly like it was when I pulled it, and I never even removed the slave from the torque tube when I had it out.

I know what you're saying about the clip on the side of the bell housing, however I didn't use that because it made the line to short like you're describing.

It's not in a clip, just the recess in the bell housing. I said F-the clip as soon as I started looking at putting it all back together. Knew that was going to be an issue, but didn't expect the line to be this short. I am guessing that there's JUST enough length to clip them together but I've got no way to actually do it.....currently.

I have about had it with this car.

YES! YES! I've been in that exact spot. Oh man, I have been precisely in that state of mind. Cars can definitely be a love-hate thing.

That's why I bought my Corvette and have decided to basically leave it stock. I enjoy driving it, but I never want to let the car get under my skin, like so many of my other "project" cars have.

Keep us posted. If nothing else, at least you know there are folks here that empathize with you and can feel the same pain....

My last car, a 1968 Camaro, got me so pizzed off I had to sell it: http://csgbenefits.org/camaro/

People would say, "why'd you sell it?", and the answer is - it caused me so much anguish and misery (and money) I just couldn't stand being around it. I never lavished so much time, attention and money on a car. In exchange, all I ever got was one problem after another. The guy I sold it to got a great deal. I ended up selling it for $16,500.

I'm not sure how many here have experienced the frustration level that FastBird is at. It can get really intense. I wanted to burn that Camaro MANY times, lol. Somehow I managed to restrain myself, but I still would have liked to seen it roast...............

Well, I'm not as agitated today, but still in a pretty sour mood mainly because I won't be able to devote any time to the car. Work all day, prepared childbirth class with my wife immediately after, get home at 9:30.......no time for the car.

I did run across one thing that I'm not sure when developed, but it seemed like the flange for the drivers side turbo was contacting the head shielding on the tunnel, thus the tunnel. I'm going to try to open it up a tad more and see if that helps anything out.

Hey all, it's me......more to come on that.

Ok, so I'm under there today and the flange was DEFINITELY riding on the tunnel/shielding. The shielding is crushed there, and there's marking on the flange edge where it was riding. This could potentially be the problem. WHY it's suddenly riding there I don't know save for the whole motor swap thing just moving things around as the mounts are still good. But, I'm banging my frustrations out about the slave line on the tunnel right now trying to clearance it out some. Trying to get confirmation on what direction the slave line is SUPPOSED to point when it comes out of the bellhosuing.

Note: The turbo doesnt' like being stored at a downward angle. Leaked again, only when tilted backwards. Kinda obvious what's causing it at this point.

AH.........that would explain it. Fookin noobie mistake there.

And the spot on the shielding where the flange was rubbing. Can't be seen from the bottom side which is why I didn't see it before, but caught it as I was digging around, saw the marking on the shielding and went WTF.

Probably not going to get much done this week until the new slave cylinder comes in.

Ok, new parts are ordered, will be here by the end of the week, so I WILL have the car back together this weekend. Took the opportunity to order a new door handle plug and fuel level sender while I was at it.

Dang $125 mistakes.

Thanks man! Hopefully it goes smooth from here on out. I just gotta figure out how to get that driveline tunnel clearanced a bit more for the turbo.....not a lot of room to swing a hammer under there.

If this doesn't work then I'm going to pray to the volcano gods to burn the car to a crisp.

Just waiting for parts to come in at this point. It will be a thrash this weekend as I want to take it on a road trip for the 4th of July which leaves me next week to get in for some quick tuning for a better break-in setup.

Well, not oging to get anything accomplished this weekend other than some more trying to clearance the tunnel some. No parts came in today. First time that my parts guy has failed to come through when he said he would. There's always tomorrow but I don't anticipate any deliveries.
