As I said, the bitter aftertaste continues with each and every new insult coming in. From merely just tossing the idea around, the choice for my next automobile becomes much clearer. I am pretty sure it will not be a C7. Between my 09 base and Z06, I should come pretty close to buying this instead. Faster, lighter, better handling and more unique while not costing much more than what I coughed up on my Z06. GM will be losing at least one customer in a couple of years.
If GM refuses to move on with times, time to abandon the ship. Apparently there are plenty of disnosaurs around preferring the stale flavor to support GM. I refuse to be one of them though,
Please tell me you aren't serious? You can't be so retarded to compare a street car to a kit car are you?
Please tell me you aren't serious? You can't be so retarded to compare a street car to a kit car are you?
Now now, name calling is completely unnecessary, especially while displaying total ignorance why this car is SOLD as a kit car. For all practical purposes and considering the number of body and engine aftermarket assortments and the design of corvette, it is a kit car as well.
So this what this site all about? when a Corvette fan express now they feel, they are call name. The thing was saying is to be the new sportscar for the young they must think about mid-engine car, when see Honda and the like i think the General need to thinking about and try agin.
You aren't even comparing apples to apples so your points are completely and totally pointless. The cars got better after Rossion took over and Noble went away but at the end of the day it still isn't really a production car.

You've only been alive for 6 or 7 years (because that's only how long the LS2/LS3/LS7/LS9 have been around)?!
Even taking the basic GenIV/LSx architecture as a whole, even the LS1, a brand new, clean sheet, ground up design, has only been around since 1997.
Then again, you do almost sound like you might be only 15 years old LOL.
And yet, even with all of your clearly displayed GM/Chevrolet/Corvette hatred, you somehow still bought at least two of them?
Brilliant.

Hmm, they need to try again?
Ya really think so?
Because funny thing, when I (and so many others) think of cars that young people tend to flock to/drool over I think of:
Honda Civic
Honda S2000
Nissan GTR
Nissan 370Z
Subaru WRX
Mitsubishi Lancer Evo
Mustang
Camaro
Dodge Viper
And even the new Subaru/Toyota FT-86 joint venture cars

You can put lipstick on LS motors but in the end, they are still the same old pushrod 350 smelling of mothballs. As far as I am concerned, there is only one engine that has been really modern and different, LT5 and that was many moons ago. Now, go back to hostilities and insults that make you and others such fine human beings. I stated my opinion because I have owned a few vettes and continue to drive them, at least for now, although people like you inspire me to move on. Hopefully being a jerk to me makes you feel like a real man

Go talk to the import guys and ask them what they think of the LS motors. None of them even know about the LT5, and many of them are replacing their rotary/4cyl/6cyl OHC engines with LSX motors. Case in point, my friend James is putting an LQ9(6.0liter Chevy truck block based on the LS1) in his Honda S2000. Another friend of mine after blowing 2 13b engines put an LS1 in his '93 Mazda RX7. Those mothball 350 engines you are criticizing, are more compact, lighter, and cheaper than anything else on the market. Hands down. Infact, it isn't even a bloody contest.
They are so compact, that you can stuff an LS7 into a Mazda Miata and not hurt the handling, or have to sacrifice things like A/C and P/S.
Your comments are showing a very, very ignorant view of the automotive world.

Fine. Without bashing, or saying you don't know what you or anyone else is saying, let's go by the clear, unbiased facts to judge your argument shall we?
You claim without rear mid engine design, the c7 will fall behind the competition yes?
Despite not being mid engine, it is realistically implied the c7 will be a better performer then the c6 trim for trim yes?
This realistically implies the top level c7 will outperform the top level c6 yes?
So list any production cars, current ones and those coming out within 2 years(I'd even say more then 2 but the c7 will be out) , that overall outperform the zr1. Then tell me how many do it for within $50k of what a zr1.
Oh, and just food for thought and to show my opinion is not of "KEEP CORVETTE OLD SCHOOL RAAAWR" the guys at svt have already said in general, the new gt500 competes with, OR BEATS, the ford GT in their track testing. Thats FRONT vs mid engine no less.
Someday I plan on owning another '93 Mazda RX7 like I had, and stuffing a de-stroked LS2 in it. Someday...

I am just confused on why you so want a mid engine car. To say you have a mid engine car? Now you are bashing on the LS engines calling them outdated? Why would you have purchased a Corvette at all? The LSX is possibly the most popular engine for swaps on the planet and you see them in just about everything. If you want to buy a Rossion go ask someone to trade your used Z06 for a used Noble M12. I bet you would find someone who likes things like A/C and air bags as well as active handling and traction control more than they like their Noble.
It is pure insanity to keep a depreciating asset that you hate. Am I wrong?

It is not that he would prefer a lighter, rear mid-engined car. So would I. The problem is that when he goes to back his opinion with "facts", he bashes the current Corvette, all of its history, and a future Corvette that we really don't know much about. And the worst thing is that his "facts" are not factual, they are not correct, and he shows his ignorance of automotive history, and current state. His grasp of automotive engineering is poor at best, and again not based on facts or physical reality.
Again, it not his opinion that is the problem. And he does not appear to be a Corvette fan, he is ostensibly a Corvette owner.

Yup. you have certainly uncovered my ignorance. LOL at the people doing these conversions as the testimony to the greatness of LS motors, you actually mentioned the main reason: they are CHEAP and plentiful at the junkyards. Makes one wonder how many people use Ford SOHC and DOHC motors. Somehow you forgot to mention this part. I actually know a few but they must be as ignorant as your truly
And shame on Noble/Rossion folks for picking one of them pesky OHC Ford motors over great Chevy small block, uhm, I meant LS motor.

Where did I bash history of Corvette? I simply pointed out that C7 Corvette will not offer anything to set it apart from the current one and hopefully there will be changes in C8, assuming that people who continue to crap on my thread and call me names do not prevail as the deciding voice in future generations. Learn to read before criticising others. Twisting facts is not my approach, there is already abundance of geniuses like you to handle this part And I am quite well familiar with automotive history, this is why many of these posts I see are right down amusing,

You may want to check some facts before posting. both Rossion and Noble cars before came with A/C which I incidentally do not use at all anyway. I am not bashing the engines, they are decent motors, they should be after having them around for so long. I commented that by todays standards, these motors are dinosaurs, just like leave springs that obviously could not be used in a mid engine car. Apparently GM lacks the inclination and ability to pursue the LS5/Northstar route and decided to maximize the profits foremost. If people like you were not so brainwashed, they would quickly realize all they do is feed the corporate machine at GM maximizing its profits.

Many people can't use Ford's newer modular motors because they are so massive. They are considerably larger than the old 5.0 OHV motor. It either isn't possible to use them, or you have to cut the whole front of the car off and fab up something from scratch.
What's so superior about a design that is bigger, heavier, more complex, and more expensive?

you actually have some numbers to back it up regarding the weight? To answer your question: EFFICIENCY is the key, this is why Ford can squeeze 550 hp from a 5 liter motor (420 in a street trim) while Chevy needs to bump up the displacement quite a bit to come close. GM failed miserably with DOHC Northstar motors although there are still brave but dumb people stuffing them in Fieros, LOL If you do not understand the advantages of DOHC engines, go and catch steam train back home from this thread, This is beyond pathetic to see someone ask this kind of questions.
