Engine main thrust bearing failures are very uncommon. I have only repaired one personally, and that was back in the 50's on a flathead V8 Ford. I can't recall of hearing of any other failures on a stock/non race engine.

Normal end play should be in the order of .0015 to .007; you are nearly 20 times over the higher limit.

I hope they know the cause of these failures.

There hasn't been any driveline work or mechanical work at all... no torque tube removal, etc., etc. The only work that has been done to this car was a software update in the Spring.

My transition in and out of V8-V4 mode is nearly seamless with the M7. #29081. Perhaps it is because I am used to it as I commute in a hybrid Atima, but really, it is pretty smooth. And a hair less than 32 MPG is nothing to sneeze at.

Default Still lugging and or engine squeal

Build data 5/1/2014 Vin # 24161. Mileage 4993 Z51, manual
I just did another 2000 round trip drive to Canada. Car still seems to miss/lugging in 7th gear when under load, in sport and or touring modes. This can happen at 65 and or 100 mph, so it’s not like I’m dragging at low rpms. This can also happen in 6th at the same speed ranges. Still no codes and to the extent I can check the wires to the coil packs are connected fine. Trying to figure out a way to show the dealer in New Jersey where hitting +65 mph before they close at 5:00pm can be hard. Also seem to have a squeal that seems to be belt driven when starting out in first gear. Mostly when just starting out and or letting the clutch in and out parking lots and just putting around.

Anyone else noticing these things?

The worst car, (mechanically) that I have ever owned in 60 years was a Mercedes! That also includes the worst repair attempts!

Default Black wheels

I have the black wheels on my 3LT Z51. I wash car at least 1x week and have even used Maguires cleaner wax on them, but they still seem to discolor with what I am guessing is brake dust. Not happy with how they are holding up after only 5k miles. Anyone have similar problem?

The number of and variation of complaints listed in this thread is disturbing. I have just returned from the New Owners Driving school where 30+ students drove the bejeeesus out of 30 + cars without a single electrical or mechanical issue. Of course these cars may have received special attention before being shipped to NV.
My personal Z51, A6, VIN 1252, 6300 miles, has only one minor issue: A buzzing sound behind or to the left of the driver when under load. Any thoughts on this?

Seems like the most difficult area of the car to attend to. They look great when clean but seem to get cloudy looking fast. As they are just like any other high gloss painted surface, with that much exposure to road grit, dust and grime I wouldn't expect different

Default Caliper color

I just purchased a new yellow C7 convertible. The calipers are yellow as well, but there is very little powder coat around the valves. The dealer has ordered new calipers but says they may be no better then what I have. Anyone had a similar problem and how was the resolution?

I have the same problem with my yellow coupe. Others have it, too. I have done nothing about it yet because I'm driving the car. I will let the dealer know about it along with some of the other cosmetic issues I have before I put it away for the winter. I'll be watching for your dealer's response and if the new ones are any better.

Check out this link that came out July 14, 2014 about excessive brake dust:

With Sallye M. Brake dust is part of ownership. Drive one mile and some will have accumulated. Our local Corvette Club, S.A.V.E., often goes to charitable cruise-ins and we are all fanatics about presenting our rides squeaky clean. Keeping (entire) wheels and tires and wheel wells squeaky clean, long term, is truly a challenge so I bought a pressure washer, (for many other reasons too), and, once a month I give the wheels, tires and wheel wells a thorough cleaning using a mild soap and a gentle spray nozzle. (I can put my hand in the spray 10" from the nozzle). This does a great job and, as a bonus, keeps the inside of the wheels clean; - this is hard to do otherwise.

What's interesting to me is that after owning a C5 and then later a C6 one of the things that has impressed me about my new Stingray is how much LESS brake dust I get compared to my other two cars.

Believe me, on my Z51 the dust is no different from my 2011 Grand Sport.

It's normal for performance pads to "dust" as they work.

My silver Z51 wheels have been pitting since day one. Not a durable paint finish. I wonder why they chose paint?

Sarah can tell you for sure ,,, but it is my understanding that the recall covers certain non mag VINS. So your dealer is correct.

Just turning 3k miles. Yesterday morning when I started the car the HVAC temperate display inside the round adhustment dial was not working. The temperature did display on the nav screen if I adjusted it but not inside the round adjustment dial. Drove to work and later started it several times to run some errands in the afternoon and it never displayed the temperature.

When I started the car to drive home it did start working correctly and displayed the temp.

I took a picture of it when it wasn't working so when it goes to the dealer and they say they can't find anything wrong I have proof it wasn't working correctly. I hate intermittent electrical issues.

Hi there,

Please keep us posted on this concern, and when you're able to get into the dealer. We'd be glad to look into this further!
