Under moderate to heavy acceleration from a stop in Sports mode, transmission will not upshift to nest gear automatically. When I take my foot off the gas, it takes 3 to 5 seconds to up shift. I have never experienced this situation with any other car. The last time it happened as I accelerated to pass a car going 15 mph. It downshifted, but would not up shift. Engine maintained high revs for 5 seconds after I took my foot off the gas. Service manager is not sure what is causing the problem. I just notified GM Chevy Division of the problem. Has anyone else experienced a similar problem?
The dealer replaced the drive tube and it seems as though it has the problem so far.

Reason: Update
John, I have a Z51 A with 2K miles and do not have your problem as described ... But pls explain further. As I understand, the trans is supposed to "sense" that U have gone aggressive and hold each gear to max torque until shifting up. Perhaps the computer holds the gear longer than it should and can B adjusted? Just a guess.. and guesses often miss?
Could you tell me if there's any applicable TSB's, firmware updates, etc. for my car? I have an issue with the climate control being either hot or cold with no variation in between. Also have a very small leak from a hydraulic line on the differential. I've cleaned the area once but, it continues to leak just enough to collect road debris around this area.

I notice many instances of electrical "gremlins". Here's my suggestion that has remedied many issues. Find a way to fully charge the battery. Either use a CTEK or similar charger. Many times, the battery is not fully charged due to in-transit and/or sitting in dealer inventory time. One of the conditions that must be met in many of the devices in the car is that the battery must be at a certain state of charge for the proper software activation. Try it and see if the gremlins disappear.
As has been reported in various posts, I am also having issues with insufficient heating unless the controls are turned up really high. In addition, I noticed today when driving with temps in the mid 60s that the heated seats did not get very warm. I'll check the heated seats in colder weather before putting her up for the winter.
Yes, vin 1168 and the a/c system is obviously female...blows hot and cold without any prediction. 40 outside and temp set on 78 just to be warm. Then 40 outside and temp on 61 and hot inside!

I've had this same instance...
You might (in my case) be trying to make traffic light & give it a little too much throttle it downshifts quickly once & them drops once more. Hold on, because you committed yourself & your C7 to simulate a take-off from an aircraft carrier!! If you look at the center console & it will say something like,
"Performance shifting enabled"
Now, you've made the traffic light & you jump out of the throttle just as fast as you got in it, but the transmission won't come out of the gear it's in & the engine just hangs close to redline.
You have 2 choices, the first I don't recommend because it's harder on the engine, but that's to continue with the throttle progression to the next gear. Problem is if you let off the throttle at all, you'll hang at redline for an abnormally long time because the transmission hydraulics will need to build up the pressure again before it will upshift. Second choice is to manually shift up with the right paddle shifter & you can also pull & hold the right shifter for a couple of seconds & it will put the transmission back into normal automatic mode.
Dear Kelly,
Thanks very much for the offer... But, would U believe? ... the light finally came on and I figured out the matrix .... just a little slow on the uptake?? However, I have another Q and I discussed with Eric Mallette... The owners manual seems to eliminate Launch Control for Z51 and Mag ride. Eric and I agreed that couldn't be ... but ...pls see page 9-45. What do you think?
Hi bnall,
I am glad you figured out the matrix! With a little help from Morphus, I'm sure. (I hope you got The Matrix Movie reference)
I pulled up page 9-45 and read it multiple times. I want to clarify my thoughts with my internal resources to be sure I am correct in my thoughts. I should have an answer tomorrow. Thanks for your patience!

Hi Jim,
Your Stingray is at 4D00, hanging out at the plant. You have been there since 1/17. I would expect you to be released shortly for transportation. Check back with us on the tracking thread mid next week for an update.
Thanks!

Hey Worm,
I pulled up your VIN and I do see that you already had your rear differential fluid level checked and is good to go. I would like to get you into the dealership so they can check the leak, that is of concern to me.
I do not see any updates on your C7 at this time. I would like to get a case started so that I can document your concerns and notify my internal resources.
Please send me a PM with all of your information. Thanks!

My headliner is falling down. I noticed the glue is not holding it to the carbon roof. Did not trust my local dealer to resolve so I decided to take it to my upholstery shop and in a few days it will be replaced with black leather that will match the interior of the car. Ferrari dose this on some of there headliners + I like the look

YES...it is as though I have it in manual and forgot to up shift. I believe it really only happens on a heavy acceleration and I experienced it, I think, in Touring!
Whether intentionally or accidentally, if your fingers tripped the paddle shifter, it will be held in what ever gear it's in for several seconds (and the gear will show in the DIC). If that happens just manually shift it up. In a short period of time the 'D' will appear back in the display. Also if you look at the shifter in the console, the red 'M' will be lit up.
Also if you have it in sport or track and have been driving it hard, it will adjust the shift points much higher for a while. Happens to me in the mountains quite often. They really programmed a smart tranny.

Thanks, will keep that in mind but I do not keep my finger on either paddle. I am one of the old folks that bought the Stingray because I had one back in '64.
Front passenger fender not aligned correctly. Returned car to dealer because the passenger fender caught on the passenger door when opening the door and chipping the paint on edge of door. Entire front fender had to be removed and and repositioned (forward).
I also have two paint swirls on the back behind the rear passenger side window. Looks like factory buffed out some in-perfections hand did not get finish it properly.
After hitting a mild pot hole ...I noticed that the wheel travel was excessive enough ( right rear) to hit the inner fender well cardboard which ripped the holes in the screws attachments ...it was easily fixed with bigger washers BUT now I notice the the "glue " joint between the upper fender and bottom part ( in front of the RR wheel) has separated. Nothing is cracked just like there was little or no bonding agent to hold it. It first started at the L bracket where it is held and now is spreading rapidly ... again nothing cracking just the lap seam becoming undone. The very nice dealer ( Steve Moore Chev) is trying to get a resolve for me on this ... but so far no word back from the factory. What is the best way to fix this? Epoxy and clamps?
C7 Z51 is leaking fluid from rear differential. Only 70 miles on the car! Cleaned the area to see if it was just overflow from dealer checking/replacing the fluid on delivery, but it keeps leaking on garage floor after it's driven. Will be bringing it to the dealer when weather permits, just giving you guys a "heads up" since I've seen others on this forum with this problem as well.

Yea, you need to check it ASAP. Could be the dealer checked it and didn't get the cap tightened up properly as it's part of the PDI to check. I'd call the dealer and let them know, they might just send the tech to your house with a jack to go in and check the source and level again. Or maybe they'll just flatbed it back to the service dept. Don't let it run dry.

Thanks,
DSheriff, this IS weird: I think I would wait for Steve Moore on this before going in with Epoxy ... although that may be the right was to fix the fender. Also, the problem described suggests - out of alignment. - You have four wheel alignment so that rear wheel might have been whacked pretty good. But you say, "Mild pot hole". Whoa! ... That has to be very disappointing after only 750 miles?

Tell me about it ...I was sick. Alignment was checked and it was in spec and did not change. I think the fender joint issue is a Monday morning build issue where they were partying heavy on the weekend. There is just little or no bonding agent in the joint. And yes, I am waiting to see what they say before I do anything but if it gets worst I will have to reconsider this.
