Default Mid engine Corvette

Every time I read a thread about the possible mid engine corvette one comment that seems to be recurring is how expensive they would be. The claim is that they would be in the 250K range.
If they were mass produced, why would they necessarily be that expensive?

At that price they will not be mass produced. Look at what Ford has done with the Ford GT.
