My '22 has the streaking issue. It's barely noticable and no one has noticed it but me but I started getting condensation in them so the dealer has warranty replacements on order. I just hope I don't inherit the paint chipping issue.
Posting here for awareness. My car (2021 C8 HTC) had the "service transmission" issue... car electricals turn on, but not the engine. Couldn't turn the electricals off or lock the car. It seemed stuck in some kind of limbo mode. Had to get it towed to a dealer. 2nd time in 2 months Unplugging and replugging the battery seems to have helped restart the car. On dealer inspection, looks like there was damage done to the transmission. Im waiting for an update on the exact cause and effect, but it looks like this issue: https://gm-techlink.com/?p=18164.

I'd like to hear from GM again how the DCT is better than a manual.
Hi everyone. My C8 is only 7 mnths old. Took my Corvette in for an inspection after changing the oil and noticed a greasy substance on the bottom panels. The dealer informed me that cracked transmission on my C8, housing up top was spraying the oil out and it was dripping down. The transmission case cracked because of porous metal castings. The dealer said that they already know about this "global" issue, personally i hear about it for the 1st time.Have many of you encountered this problem? Any thoughts...
I was going to trade my c7 on a c8 but after reading about all the problems and videos on youtube I canceled my order. Too many things to go wrong. It seems GM needs do a better job. My wife as 2019 SL550 MB and it is a better built car with options GM has not figured out how to build.

I was hearing the same things with the C7's A8 trans, but it wouldn't have stopped me from buying one. Same here with the C8. Remember, the majority of people only post when they have a problem. Very few post about their problem free car.
I thought the same thing, but the C8 is a much more complicate car and that duel clutch transmission is only a few years in the making. It is a big risk to take.
Manufactured by Tremec who has been in business 60 years and backed by GM’s 5 year powertrain warranty.
No denying that a subset of owners have had DCT issues but the vast majority have not. Every individual has to make the mental gymnastic, risk/reward decision to ultimately purchase the finest American mass produced sports car…. or not.
For me the C8 is simply too good to pass up.
PAVETTE17.....I traded my C7 in and picked up my 2023 C8 COUPE 2LT Z51 at MM NH Last November...the minute I drove out of their parking lot I could feel the difference between the c7 & the c8 platforms...without question it is the best American sports car ever built...and the best decision I ever made ..after owning the C6, C7 and attending the Ron Fellows Perf driving school 2x for the C7 & C8 there is no doubt in my mind that this car has exceeded all of my expectations...and I am sorry to hear that some folks have had headaches...and hopefully this forum helps them navigate thru the headaches..but I would highly recommend this car to anyone who is considering moving up to the C8 platform...and oh btw...I left a MB 550 in the rear view mirror last week at about 140 mph... he couldnt keep up..
With so many low to super low mile ‘21, ‘22 and ‘23 cars out there, is there any way to get buy back, service or any other history of problems from the car’s vin?
Somehow, I don’t picture GM offering that like some MB dealers do…
Interesting to see that with more and more definite proof of a sagging market how both dealer and individual can deny, deny, deny!

I’ll try again:
There’s a well known GM dealer not far from us that regularly gets buyback Corvettes at auction, then sells them at a minimal discount as their problems have been ‘fixed’… They are very forthcoming with info, the latest is a C8 that had AC related HVAC repeated failures. What reassurance do we have that the problem has been actually fixed?
Further, when looking at a used car, be it 100 or 10,000 miles, is there any way to check factory involvement history? Likely a total waste of time asking any questions of this type to anyone involved with GM.
Hoping for something more informative than a three letter answer…

You are so right!!! If only people could understand the tiny percentage of problems compared to the units built. For us old timers we just have to accept the level of complexity in any new vehicle...let alone super cars like the C8.
I had one of the early '20 C8 that broke a valve spring. GM was excellent in that they replaced all the springs, the dealer scoped the engine and it performed flawlessly from that point on. It's frustrating when YOU are one with a problem, but overall, the C8 has been very reliable.
I have the streaking in a ‘21 HTC. Just returned from a dealer service visit for oil change. I brought up the fact that they were streaking underneath the headlight lens. They looked into it, and the summary upon the completion of my service invoice says this is considered a “Normal condition per GM bulletin:”
#01-08-42-001P
i’ve had my car at three different dealerships having different work performed. I may bring it up at a different dealership before my warranty runs out in a few months to see if if I get a better response.

That bulletin specifically states that permanent staining is cause for replacement:
Note: Any of the conditions listed below would indicate
the need to service the lens or lamp assembly.
• The customer reports they have a PERMANENT
stain on the INSIDE of the lens. The stain never
goes away, even when the condensation / water
inside the lamp is cleared.

Here's the simple answer... you roll the dice with ANY car purchase. Whose to say a brand new car doesn't have issues, or a used one?
Problems are most likely to happen early or much later in most mass produced products. When you get the car you should check it out as best you can before your buyers remorse / contract law clause expires. (which in some states is NIL, you bought it you own it!)
Also I don't think the lemon laws apply to used cars right? So BUYER BEWARE!
I had my first actual problem on my 23 recently. The unlock button on one of my fobs got stuck and wouldn't work most of the time. I got it replaced under warranty when I took the car in for the first oil change and DCT filter.
I have a 2020 with about 6500 miles on it. No problems except the dealership service was below par so I am going to another. I realize that I have been lucky with this car and do not plan to give it up. I have thought about getting an Eray but just dont have enough faith/trust in GM
to take another chance.
My C8 seems to have corrupted my USB drive I use for music. Randomly it stopped recognizing the files on the USB last night despite not having touched it in days. Anyone else run into that?
Similar issues with multiple properly formatted drives in a Pioneer [another vehicle].
