As I said a few times, as mine was delayed due to SD1, my C8 arrived with none of the 40+ issues that made it to the PDI SS at the time. BGA had months to correct assembly glitches and R&R defective parts before RS1 happened. I had some concern about a first year, new model,.... build, but there was/is no reason to delay.

I am a first time Corvette customer - I ordered my C8 on just the specs. How could one NOT (if it is affordable)? I recognized it was going to be an ultimate Game Changer and worth every bit of minor inconvenience that could happen.

For those with the broken springs, Tx, .. I can't feel your pain, but feel sorry that you haven't had the wonderful experience some (?many) of us have had so far. The few insignificant glitches (Frunk, Towers, Lift) have not diminished getting one of the first C8s to have hit the streets.

If you want a C8, get it exactly what, when (MY), and model (Coupe, HTC, Z06, .... Zora) you want. No need to wait if it is available.

Just my , Do what is best for you.

This is what I fear with the HTC I have on order. Those photos scare me-especially on a car approaching 100k. I bought a used 718 while my C8 is being built. The fit and finish on it is to envy. Not a panel, fold, seam, or detail out of alignment. That’s where quality takes on a different meaning. Regardless - I still can’t wait for that raw C8 power.

I was supposed to pick my HTC Z51 from the dealer on Mar 24. Sales gay calls and says there is a tranny oil leak. Talked to the service manager today. The tranny is half way out. Looks like an input shaft oil seal leak. Maybe next week. The only good news is that he can put litres of oil in for no labour fee.

New tranny to be installed on April 5. Been at the dealer for 2 ½ weeks. In the lower part of the transmission, there is a pressed sheet metal part (not described to me very well) that was over-pressed, distorting it and the gasket. Cannot be repaired at the dealer. It has happened before apparently.

Glad I waited for a second year production car....

need a major dislike button for this! So sorry to hear that! (I guess) Better than you finding the pool of fluid on your garage floor and having to limp back up there to hand her back

That's not something that should magically develop on the TT from BGA. How did it leave BGA like that?

Default DCT Replacement

For anyone that has had your transmission replaced were there any issues afterwards? Any codes, noises, fluid leaks etc.? Also was there any damage to the exterior or engine bay as they have to remove the rear bumper and strap the engine up.

Any feedback would be appreciated. Hopefully it is good!!

i met another HTC owner who picked it up a month earlier. His did not have any body panel misalignment issue. It could be a luck of draw: bad day, bad shift, badly trained staff on passenger side. We both had same #2 issue but it was a easy fix and I posted the how-to on FB forum.
Some may not notice the slight misalignment but they were noticeable next to my Lexus.

Please post a picture of your "fixed" nacelle flap. I don't see how moving it fore/aft or side to side can fix that? It really needs to go up a little on mine.

No codes or obvious leaks (I assume it would have to be obvious to penetrate the cladding @ bottom of car ). No damage that I could see to engine bay, exterior either (I always take an album's worth of photos when I drop it off, precaution due to a past dealership's bubbling a tire and denying it). Bumper looks fine, alignment is good.

There was a clattering noise from the back which at first I thought might have been transmission, but it was only present at cold startup and before vehicle was fully warmed up. As a test I tried varying low-RPM revs in neutral, was still present so I suspected that they hadn't bolted everything up in exhaust quite correctly, and that turned out to be the case. So, will keep fingers crossed that it holds up.

the photo at FB forum includes the other side and the after-fix looks exactly like that. By moving it forward and twisting a bit makes the nacelle flap unfold a bit more; therefore straightening up to line up with the top of the window. Both sides also have even gap all around. I checked by running my fingers along all gap on both flaps at the same time. Trust me, my kids always tell me I have OCD. Maybe just a bit. lol I'm satisfied with the result.

Same symptoms on 3/26/21.
In Nov. the dealer replaced #5 fuel injector and, while none were broken, dealer replaced all valve springs.
Haven't heard about latest problem resolution. Dealer is backed up with work for the one mechanic I really trust.
Car now has 1150 miles.

Final update (4-13-21) Leaking fuel injector on cylinder #3, fouled spark plug, #3. Replaced both.
This was my second fuel injector problem.

Just dropped my 21 HTC off at the dealer for the following:

Check tire pressure, check wheel lugnut torque, Service Convertible Top Error Message (Top won't go down), PDR not recognizing SD Card (Tried two separate cards), and Drivers door panel leather is "Fading" or is missing some "dye"

I guess it’s the price to pay for been in the first batch of production.... I’ll be contacting my dealer tomorrow.....

Could help my self and restarted the car and back to normal.... I didn’t try putting it in reverse the first time... but in any case just drove the car for some 20 miles and just like if nothing ever happened😁!!!! Happy for that but concerned about when will this issue shows again 😟...

If anyone has experienced something similar, please reply and let me know...

Besides this issue the car has been just pure joy... perfect in every way....

I will keep updates as GM is contacted and I get information about this issue!!!

i got my car in service today... they believe it has to do with the car learning the driver patterns and so on. They uploaded a refresh update in my odd gears into the system and most importantly I got my car back the same day!!!! I will inform periodically on this situation.. my hope is that all is good and taken care now!!!! C8 rocks and yes I will be in line to buy it again.. it’s beyond imagination...🏎❤️It!!! 😀

Hi folks, my Corvette was serviced yesterday 3/24/2020. The technician was able to recover 3 codes (P0700, P2838, P2839) if anyone can help me understand what they mean that will be awesome...

with intense help from GM tech support, the transmission programming for odd gears was reset and reloaded. GM believes it is possible that is related to the learning mode and so on...

I got my Corvette back at the end of the day... 😄...

Take care for now!
I've just lost my even gears (2-4-6-8). I was driving as normal - spirited but nothing unusual, with a mix of auto and manual shifting. I had a friend on another forum encounter a similar problem, and here's his story:

"Had similar issue at less than 1,000 miles. Dealer was instructed to run car at idle multiple times to operating temp, shut down, repeat after cool down. This sequence was done at least 8-10 times. Fluid nor filter was changed. Currently have over 8,400 miles with no further issues. Most of these problems seem to happen when accelerating which cause some “particle” to dislodge causing the DCT to act erratically."

So, I'm cycling the car through on/off cycles now before going the dealer-fix route.

UPDATE:
I cycled the car 7 times yesterday (20 minutes run time with 2 hours of cool-down) and once this morning.

Some observations:
  • The CEL went out on the 3rd cycle, came back on the 4th cycle, and then stayed out from 5-8.
  • The car will idle for 10 minutes and then auto shut-down. To over-ride this, before the 10 minutes expires, put your foot on the brake and place the car into Drive or Reverse for a few seconds. This resets the 10 minute count down.
  • My code-reader picked-up a number of transmission codes
  • I received an email and text message from Chevrolet that my C8 reported not feeling well.
  • Of the roughly half-dozen C8 owners who have encountered this and described it online, I am the only one I've seen who lost the even gears.
After the 8th cycle this morning, I took the car out for a test drive, and I was happy to see the car quickly shift into 2nd as I headed down my street.

I took the car for about a 20 mile drive, switching through all Drive modes and with some "aggressive" acceleration mixed in. Everything seems to be back to normal. The CEL never returned.

Now, in the research that I've done on this issue, some have seen complete recovery (like whl3), while others have had the problem recur, with a range of transmission procedures (valve cleanings, fluid flush, etc.) providing temporary relief, but ultimately still requiring a transmission replacement.

I feel comfortable driving to my preferred dealership, about 40 miles away.

I'll continue to provide updates after my dealer visit and their recommendation(s).

2ND UPDATE: I've put another 100 miles on the C8 (120 in total) since the transmission issue, and there has been no recurrence and no evidence of any transmission problem. I'll update one last time after my upcoming dealer visit, to let you know what their recommendation is for the transmission (fluid flush, valve cleaning, etc.).

3RD UPDATE: I had my dealership visit, and had them do the free motor oil/filter change and tranny filter change (~5900 miles). They also took care of the recalls (frunk latch issue and wheel porosity). Funny thing with the frunk latch recall, the OTA update was completed many months ago, but GM has no record of it in their system, so the dealership has to go through the software update all over again - something my tech had challenges with, but finally got it right. Based on my understanding, everyone who has had the frunk OTA update has still had to have a GM dealership repeat the software update to get it recorded on the C8's warranty/service record. I hope GM fixes this record keeping issue.

For the transmission issue, I've driven the car over 800 miles since the original (and only) incident and it has not recurred. I was told there was one error code, P0700, but my own home code reader found two other codes on the day of the incident (sorry, can't find those codes right now). Anyway, there were no new codes generated since the original incident, and the tech cleared the code and told me that I am good to go, based on his research into the issue.

Why change valve springs if they were good? Warranty manipulation? Hope the new ones are good - keep us in the loop.
