A good friend of mine ordered his and waited forever for it to come. I took him down to the dealer, and followed him home.
First trip out of the dealer to home, the shifting problems started and the check engine light came on - skip shifting. He took it to the more local dealer to pull the code, and it confirmed a transmission shift problem. He left the matter to after his return from a trip.
Second dealer - a specialty dealer - futzed with it for several hours to try and get it to re-learn without success. Order a new transmission, and take it home while waiting. When going home, he lost reverse on a side stop! Got it home and waited for the return trip.
Second trip to the dealer. That morning, all the gears came back when cold, but started skip-shifting when it warmed up. Met him at a rendezvous point, and he let me drive it. Yup, it was trying to shift, but would fall on it's face when too much throttle applied. Had to cruise and take it easy.
Transmission came, and surgery started. NOW there is a report of the rear leaking, and a new part is on order!

What a great new car buying experience. This is what one expects buying a 20yr old 2nd hand car. One of the reasons people buy new cars is to not have issues and not run around dealers with a new car. Does GM compensate people that have to run around and lose time getting the car fixed?

Apparently, this is not the thread one wants to originate a post in.
Wish all best of luck.

Not sure you are buying the right used cars if something 20 years old is a falling apart POS.

Ans GM's compensation... LOL

Hey Man...thank you for the heads up....everyone please keep the C8 comments coming...I just placed my $2000 deposit for allocation at Macmulkin Chevrolet in New Hampshire ( I live in Long Island but the dealers in Long Island are charging $5k over MSRP..they are crooks!).....and Macmulkin just confirmed I'm #51 for the 2022 stingray build...Currently looking at late 2021 fall early 2022 winter delivery...broke my heart but I let my c7 go yesterday.....I'm hoping I didnt make a mistake...the c7 was flawless and ran like a champ

They are not really taking “orders”, but MacMulkin will let you put a deposit down for the next year. If not everyone on their MY 2021 list gets an allocation for a 2021, they will shuffle the 2022 list by rolling over the 2021 list and putting all names on the new combined list by date of deposit. That’s what happened to me last year. I put down my deposit for a 2021 in January of 2020, I was #9 on the 2021 list. After the 2020 list that never got an allocation was rolled over by date of deposit, I slid to #101. It worked out for me, I still got an allocation in the first round for 2021s. Got my car in January 2021, not quite a year after placing my deposit. I think there methodology is the fairest way to do it.

A lot of dealers across the country are selling at MSRP. You just need to get it in writing, which in my experience you don't have to ask them to do that for you.

Got the car with a new tranny last week and immediately took it for wrapping and ceramic

Got it Friday night, April 9. Driving fine. Fingers crossed. Breaking it in so no performance experience yet.

We went to see the car and check the progress. Still waiting for a new rear (seal leaking).
A very expensive "explosion" of parts indeed!
