C8 problems

First outing with my C8, s/n around 13500. Delivered in late October. Ran about 100 miles on it locally, in storage since then. I decided to take advantage of the weather on Easter and drive to to visit my folks. Crapped out about 15 miles from home, on the way back. Rough running, ESC light, engine light. Limped home. Dealer tech found a valve spring broken for #1 cylinder. They changed that spring only. Car had about 350 miles on it when this happened. Running fine now. Hoping for the best as break-in continues.

I would print that bulletin and take it back to the dealer. I would leave it there until they replaced all the valve springs they were supposed to replace. Otherwise it may end up in the shop to get the engine replaced.

I have 10200+ Long Beach Red, HTC 3LT mine went down at 63 miles #5 valve spring, Sept 20. That was the time period GM had just begun to realize the scope of the valve spring problem. They replaced all 16 springs, your build period is in the affected motor production. After the valve springs were replaced, car has been perfect. Send a note if I can help you further.

I’m picking up a 2020 C8 next week and it falls within that range. Hopefully the odds are against this anything like this happening. Will be driving it 2.5 hours back home. I’ve been hearing about the direct injection noise that some of my OCD brothers are hearing from the engine bay. Other than the check engine light and the motor going into limp mode does anybody know what the ticking sound difference is between a broken valve spring and just the normal sound of the ticking sound of direct fuel injection?

It’s a private party sale not a dealership. I drove the car already and everything seemed fine, but you are correct anything could happen. I guess like the J&J vaccine I received I’m kinda playing the odds. At least the car is under warranty. I will make sure to bring my AAA card though😀.

Yes He’s flipping the car to make some money, only 200 miles. This is my first Corvette I’ve had multiple Ferrari’s so that AAA card is always with me. I will say though I’ve never been left stranded so I’m hoping for a good experience with the Corvette. However, I’m doing something that I’ve told myself I would never do, which is buy a first year model car. I guess I will find out soon.

Anyone having problems with their XM system? About half or more of the time when starting up it shows
“loading XM” and sometimes it never connects, other times it plays the last channel it was on but cannot change
to any other channel while still showing loading. Then other times it works perfectly. When it shows loading sometimes you can shut the car off let it set there 10 to 15 minutes open the door then close door start the car and it sometimes starts working.

Question for everyone, with the 2021 MY nearing end of production, is it safe to say that most of the major first model year issues have been addressed, (i.e. valve springs). I know there will always be unknown issues that arise but is there any logic in holding off for a 2022 or is the 2021 a stable car?
