Interesting. Would you mind posting a link or pic of product you're using? Thanks in advance...

You have an issue and definitely NOT a PROBLEM........

A problem is when the engine blows, burns oil, or transmission does not shift properly, or if the car has electrical gremlins.

You just simply have an ISSUE.

There are plenty of other people complaining about interior quality issues. Or are we trying to sweep them under the rug and let GM get a pass on the interior because the car costs only 70k?

Well, my I figure that they probably have about 20 different manufacturers on Amazon, and quality does tend to vary....so I'm looking for a specific brand that folks on here have had some success with. Thanks...

I found what we used at a department store (Krogers/Frys). I believe we paid around 8.00 for 3 ft wide and 20 ft long. A local Chev dealer saw what we had done, and is now giving a roll of it to every buyer.

Default Passenger Airbag Status Indicator

Today I took my 7 years old daughter on a tour on my 2021 LT2 HTC , she tried to adjust the seat mutiple times in efforts to see the roat infront of her lol, few hours later my friend rode in passenger and warned me that Passenger Airbag Status Indicator is on when he sits and off when none sets as attached

I read the manual and understood that this is a problem with pssenger airbag, is my understanding correct? Should i be worried and take it asap to dealer car islike only 400ish mile, i searched and found a solution someone had same problem on C6 im yet to try will report once I try it

I could care less about the pinky space, just showing it to the person who posted that it was an issue for them as they wanted a reference point to see the variance...... its surely not an issue for me.

As far as the Fugly black floor mats....I took the natural floor mats out and am now using them as shower mats in my bathroom......They go better with my bath towels that are the same color.......

Ok, NOT TRUE, just kidding, they are in a plastic bag In the garage. Hehehe

Peace

Yup, its good to have this thread to know of possible various issues that most likely will never pop up on your car when you get it........

good that you read all 61 pages...... now you should go over and read the 16,000 or so other pages posted from other owners that have ZERO issues with their C8's and are enjoying every problem free mile driving the dream.

MY C8........6700 miles, street parked 24/7/365, left out in rain, snow, summer heat, daily driven, no front grill guards, no pampering, no paint protection, driven like a rental loaner car, with ZERO problems, and NO issues..... like 95-98% of most others.

I don't see it as complaining. For sure GM monitors this so its a way to alert them on what we are seeing. And its a help to owners who are looking for advice on a problem they may or may not be having.

Communication is a good thing. Sometimes its emotional but that's the nature of the beast.

Really ? 95-98% don't have any problems and issues?! That's good to know!! So the car is great then!! (Even the 1st year model right?)

Your brand new C8 why do you drive it like a rental car? It sounds like borderline abusing it especially it's brand new and rare, rental loaner car really? and no front grill guard? That's a must isn't it? (or as long as you don't follow the cars in front of you too close then you are fine? Is that how people get theirs damaged by following the cars in front too close? how are your front radiators ok?)

The only point of my post is to let prospective owners know that for the large majority the car is rock solid.

This is coming from someone who admits to "abusing" his C8.

I plan on daily driving my 2020 C8 the same way I daily drove my brand new 1992 C4 that ended up with 93K miles when I sold it. ( with about 15K of those miles being red light 1/4 runs and burnouts) That car was rock solid also.

Chevy builds these Corvettes to be tracked, and as such they tend to be overbuilt as daily drivers that are never tracked, making them very reliable and sold.

Statistically, *any* car built these days will have more instances of cars without issues than with issues. But posting about them is a good thing, particularly if the manufacturer is refusing to fix severe issues (for example, look at the E46 BMW M3 grenading engines issue about 20 years back: owners who had been refused service banded together, set up a website documenting the issues, and as if by magic, BMW suddenly had a change of heart, addressed the issue, and extended the warranty of affected owners).

It is certainly a worthwhile and necessary endeavor to post about issues, and I don't recall a single claim by any affected owner over the course of this thread stating "ALL C8's have this issue!!". But *some* of us do, and *some* of the issues are pretty severe (like my transmission, which required replacement, which I'm happy to say was fixed--after a fair amount of effort--with no recurrence or signs of relapse so far). So yeah, I had a major problem with my C8. Would it stop me from buying another one or recommending it to others? No and no. Great car, great fun, great price. Drop mic...

.........except GM has a couple of class action lawsuits against them right now from C6 and C7 owners. The C6 had the LS7 valve guide problem that was so common I had three tuners tell me when I was looking for a C6 to mod to avoid that engine like the plague. One of them told me they wouldn't do any engine mods on an LS7 unless the owner could provide documented proof the heads had been repaired. The C7 has a much more minor problem. The black wheels they sold on many of them crack. GM says it's normal wear and tear combined with driving on rough roads. There are enough people with these problems to cause a Judge to give them class status with their lawsuits.

Except for the brief problems with the valves on some of the 20MY and the transmission issue mentioned above, my lurking here has shown that there are issues with the C8 but they are relatively minor. That makes me feel better about the C8 I've ordered.

Well, prior to the C8 I owned one Corvette, about 30 years ago, a C3....and honestly, the issues I had with that car are the reason that I never bought another one 'till now. And this car is soooo good that despite the tranny issue, for which I gave GM a pass as it's their first time out with it and I know Porsche's first effort had some issues as well, I'm still very happy with it (though of course would've been happier if I hadn't had to go through that!). I am still worried about the valve spring issue, as my car was made late in that window, though no issues yet w/over 4K miles, so probably safe there.

Agreed on your point about the 2020, I think for as many all-new things there are on this vehicle, while rollout could have been improved in this regard, there aren't a lot of major issues, although the valve spring issue is simply awful QC or some sort of serious supply line FU. Still, I haven't heard much of this with the '21s, so I think long-term it'll probably turn out to be a pretty reliable vehicle in the long run.

A bit of additional info on the valve spring debacle, given to me by a knowledgeable source... Covid hit GM's spring vendor/manufacturer very hard, causing the factory's spring tempering ovens to be shut down. This was brought about by the loss of qualified employees/operators. GM felt the availability squeeze and pressured the vendor to produce, per contract. Due to lack of sufficient temps in the tempering ovens some springs left the plant and then to GM with inadequate spring/wire tempering. No information was given to me on why the ovens were not hot enough. One could only surmise... Inadequate spring tempering = premature spring failure.

Personally, I think factory started making springs right after their post COVID startup and started running wire before the tempering ovens got up to temp. There's no QC/QA on GM's side of the house that would have caught this. There's no visual indication of the problem.

Well, to me that doesn't absolve GM of QC, as they're responsible for ensuring that their vendors have adequate QC in place. Our customer certainly ensures that we've got it in place.
