Default C8, Seats

I agree, Something is Wrong with the seat

My thoughts,,

Bottom Seat Cushion Foam on the Leading Lower Vertical Edge,,,, installed improperly, Foam damaged or not placed properly, plus the Cushion appears to loose,, IE Hog Rings and Draw String issue.

The Wrinkles in the Seat Cushion appears to be a very poor section of Leather and the Seam Stitching leaves this section leather appear loose.

I've completed the Sloppy Seat Track Fix in a few C5's, mine was the first at 25k miles. Installing the UHMW washers, $2 at the hardware store, in the Worm Gear assembly. In the process of disassembly one has to untie and release the Draw String for the Bottom Seat Cushion, plus remove all of the Hog Rings so the Seat Cushion can be lifted up and off. It's PITA. Expect getting your hands all scratched up. But One does need to make sure that when replacing the bottom seat cushion that the Cushion Foam on the front edge is placed properly. More importunate is getting the Hog Rings installed so the cushion fits well and Draw String tight so the front of the seat cushion is in tension. My C5 Convert has 44k miles now, my sons' ZO6 25k miles, neither has issues with the lower seat cushion in this area. And the C5 seats are know to be no where near the quality of the C6 seats.. Getting the front edge to fit correctly on my first repair was difficult.

Still minor repairs considering the C8 is a complete redesign and now a mid engine, finally. Considering the Union Strike and start up, I'd say GM did quite well.

The seats are shipped with the back folded forward. The torso bolster rubs in this location. I would just drive the car and let your butt fix it.

So I'm at 700 miles and no issues other than the wobbly stitching. The engine does make a slight consistent rattle noise at lower rpms/gears. Is that normal for the LT2 / anyone else noticed this?

Is it the Direct Injection "tick"?

A couple people mentioned that you hear it on long drives (maybe something they can address through noise cancellation in future?).

Yeah, it sounds like the DI tick, but I wasn't expecting to hear that inside the car while driving.

Appears radio onstar amd camera system are all linked.

Guy is a bit annoying but jist is infotainment display stopped working and other things reset car a bunch then on his way to dealer to have looked it - everything worked... then he shut car off and it stopped again....

I appreciate the OP starting this thread. After reading a few pages though it clear his original intention was lost. The thread turned into a bunch of noise unrelated to the car. Good ole internet forums....

Should be broken down by section

Interior

Exterior

Drivetrain

Electrical

Just my opinion

As the OP, please allow me to comment on that. While I believe there will come a time when Bowling Green has turned out enough C8s that it will be easier for someone who has taken delivery of a C8 to search a particular thread to find another forum member who had a similar problem/fix, the majority of members or future owners are still waiting for theirs. With only 2700+ deliveries, out of tens of thousands on order, I believe this thread has personally been helpful, and continues to be helpful, to keep track of what to pay particular attention to at the time of delivery and in the first few months of ownership—all in one spot without having to click through multiple threads.

If you, or any other members, would like to start more specific threads (for interior, exterior, drivetrain, etc), I will do my best to copy/paste any new problems from those threads into this one if they have not yet been included.

Overall, it seems that GM has delivered a revolutionary, high quality product, but there have been some common problems such as the dash stitching, paint peeling, transmission software issues, and infotainment glitches. I’m also hoping GM’s social media customer service group is watching this comprehensive thread and working on ways to fix these problems before the rest of us get our C8s, avoiding the frustration and expense of warranty repairs or recalls in the future.

Thanks again to everyone for posting and continuing to keep this thread focused and devoid of politics, banter, and off-topic issues as much as possible. Mahalo from Maui.

This is what his forum is about - Thanks
I downloaded spreadsheet, but it was different - Sequence numbers out of order & duplicated. I also modified line spacing, ...
It fits on 1 page now until items get added
Here it is if anyone likes the format changes - did not change details.

3 more recent discoveries:

Oil sump tank had leaky seal. Engine pulled. Tank replaced. (Note: Engine cradle bolts are apparently not reusable)

Gas Door Paint slightly different color on metalic paints - Inconsistent sparkle or shades on different panels.

Uneven/Thin paint on hood corners near windshield and trunk arc by rear window.

Engine pulled? WTF. Is that typical for this type of repair?

While driving at 20-30 MPH, the front hood released and the hood opened to a near vertical position. After stopping I closed the hood but it took a lot of effort. When closed the hood now is recessed near the hinges and there is some paint damage to the edges of the hood and fenders. It appears that the hinges are damaged. I immediately took it to a dealer and they are to research the issue with Chevy engineering.
