As the original poster of this thread, I would like to personally thank Chevrolet and their Customer Service on behalf of all of us on Corvette Forum for being proactive in following our “C8 Problems” and working to correct what new owners have experienced—improving what is already an amazing achievement in developing and delivering the C8.
Today I started my car (636 miles) in the garage, and rolled down the drivers side window with the door closed and at the last 10% left to go down, it dropped harshly into the door. It hesitated to roll back up with lots of nasty grinding. Once it reached the top, it wouldn't roll down again. The dash then displayed. "roll window down and up again" so I guess a sensor wasn't getting the data it needed. I drove to the dealer about 30 miles away and while on the highway the window started to fall down into the door. When it was down about 50% I was able to lift it by hand and let the motor catch it and bring it back up to a full close, I heard lots of grinding and possible broken glass. Dropped it off at the dealer, the window wouldn't roll down, but you could push it down after the motor cranked a bit, yet more grinding, pulled on it and let the motor lift it back up... the sensor does not detect if the window is fully up and the dealer attempted to shut the door when it was fully up... OOF big clunk off my roof top panel... No damage tho
Awaiting a call from the dealer after they get into the door and determine the issue. I will post a follow up
Window regulator fell apart. The grinding is the window motor tugging on the cables that likely fell off the pulley(s).
Yep, that's what happened, and there are no parts available...
That's pretty typical on brand new stuff. All the parts are being used to build the cars and none of the GM part warehouses will stock them. If your dealer does their part in the chain of command, they will get one pulled from the assembly line or supplier and send it to the dealer.

Sounds like the window fell of the tract and something got wedged. Grinding may be the motor trying to get something to move that is pint he'd or stuck.
Any updates on the owner's that encountered DCT related issues?
I noticed that the guy who runs his C8 all the time on the street and strip hasn't posted a video in days after saying he brought his C8 in because of that janky 1-2 shift he was experiencing in his last two videos (corvette Direct is the name of the channel).

If you are referring to my post (167?) , minor issue with electrical connector not properly seated. Works fine now.
I would like to hear some outcomes whatever they may be.
The outcome of the"32 mile DCT removal" that was posted by a mechanic on this site https://www.reddit.com/r/Justrolledi..._a_32_mile_c8/ was fully successful. A complete transaxle was snatched from BG (I hope it wasn't destined for my car in a few weeks!) and installed. The issue was the diff, not the gearbox, but I have no other info or details. The unit went straight to Tremec. Absolutely no issues now, as I have driven that car.
Today just before reaching my first 400 miles the transmission started only changing from gears 2-4-6-8.... turned off and on and same issue... later on the way back home (good thing I was close to home) it wouldn’t change from gear 2 for a while than it started again back to head 2-4-6-8... its like the car doesn’t recognize gears 1-3-5-7. I guess it’s the price to pay for been in the first batch of production.... I’ll be contacting my dealer tomorrow.....
Could help my self and restarted the car and back to normal.... I didn’t try putting it in reverse the first time... but in any case just drove the car for some 20 miles and just like if nothing ever happened😁!!!! Happy for that but concerned about when will this issue shows again 😟...
If anyone has experienced something similar, please reply and let me know...
Besides this issue the car has been just pure joy... perfect in every way....
I will keep updates as GM is contacted and I get information about this issue!!!
i got my car in service today... they believe it has to do with the car learning the driver patterns and so on. They uploaded a refresh update in my odd gears into the system and most importantly I got my car back the same day!!!! I will inform periodically on this situation.. my hope is that all is good and taken care now!!!! C8 rocks and yes I will be in line to buy it again.. it’s beyond imagination...🏎❤️It!!! 😀
Hi folks, my Corvette was serviced yesterday 3/24/2020. The technician was able to recover 3 codes (P0700, P2838, P2839) if anyone can help me understand what they mean that will be awesome...
with intense help from GM tech support, the transmission programming for odd gears was reset and reloaded. GM believes it is possible that is related to the learning mode and so on...
I got my Corvette back at the end of the day... 😄...
Take care for now!

None were found so he hooked everything back up, connected the battery back up and took the car on 20 mile R&D drive to log the trans information on his laptop. Customer was aware of this and was totally fine with it. Car has not had another issue and is working as it should now.
Our best guess is that something just wasn't making the right connection. The engineer told us that we were the first car to have this issue. The only other issues reported to them by other dealers so far was some trans fluid leaking and some units being slightly low on trans fluid.

Thanks.... my car is the service department now. By now in this forum there are 3 reports with same issue...

For additional details on my issue you can see my earlier posts. While I am not happy about having to go thru this, I commend GM for the decision to replace the transmission and to send it back to fully understand this issue to prevent a potential painful recall situation in the future. I wish GM technical support contact me directly for a dialog on my situation and for ways they can compensate me for this very unfortunate situation.

Was talking with other C8 owners and they suggested I have it check for low fluid. Call and made a appointment today with dealer. I notice on the drive there that the car was shifting hard from 1st to 2nd. Also the “idle creep temporary disappeared’ light came on at every stop I made. Dealer called after a few hours and informed me they were waiting on GM to call them back. (Also when I drove up to the dealership their drive had a steep incline. I parked the car and the technician call me and said the same thing happen to him. He could not put the car in reverse. Hopefully will find out something tomorrow.

Now is 3/29/2020 and my car had the same transmission issue Again.
To keep it short, On 3/31/2020 my corvette went to service department for a full transmission replacement. My odd/even gear issue reappeared and GM immediately decided to swap the transmission and to send back my transmission for forensic work. Apparently they have identified a failure with something inside the transmission preventing the odd gears to engage and only keep changing bt even gears.

It is now 4/12/2020 and my car is still in the local dealership service waiting for the replacement to happen. It took several days (almost 2 weeks) for GM to authorize the transmission work....
I will be reaching GM this week to discuss my situation.
I will keep posting periodically.

They are told it is overnighted and they were charged extra for it. But, they can't get tracking information of any kind. They don't know if it really shipped or where it is. They all believe it wll be here soon, but my car sits with 175 miles on it. There are definitly bigger problems in the worls, so I try to focus on that instead.

Happened in the early part of a planned long drive today and I had to cautiously get myself about 50 miles back home. Going to schedule a trip to the dealership shortly. So disappointed as I am absolutely loving the car. Hopefully this can be resolved soon.

Unless the car you're referring to is one of these? No.
I count at least 6 (alleged) owners here (if I have that count right feel free to correct me) with trans related issues.
It would be great if these trans related matters were in a separate thread to track.
I am interested in the reliability of this DCT being new and gm never having used this DCT before.
sorry 7 seperate vehicles with DCT related issues requiring service.
Buried In here.
This is that youtuber. Said it was a software update or something "we have to wait for the next video" for the full explanation.
Looking forward to hearing something that was fixed without it having to be removed. He beats this car pretty good so if something is gonna break i would bet it will be on his.
Edited to add another (unless a member here under a "different" user name already reported.)
I'm wondering if this particular paint issue is a Peeling of the paint from compression, the two body parts pushed together.
I downloaded both photos and their in the same location nd nearly the same appearance, I'm of the opinion that this paint has been pushed up and most likely in transit, pinched the body panels and HL assembly, hence the peel. The clearances are tight, better seen in the lighter color.
I've seen this before in Corvettes, in particularly the C4 polyurethane bumper covers both in transport, steep approach often from using short ramps. while unloading the car. During assembly of a freshly paint new bumper cover, fasteners being over torqued. Partially the rear cover. where the cover is joined to the quarter panel. Paint peeling by lifting with a hydraulic jack under the cover or people pushing the car, again all with fresh paint.
Just a thought. I watched a video wit hone Tech walking the C8 with a ring of body gauges in Hand. He was checking all of the body Gaps. Seems unlikely this paint defect could be missed in the B.G .assembly plant and missed by so many...

People have to realize that a Corvette isn't a Porsche or a Ferrari or even a Honda when it comes to fit and finish. It is, however a fantastic performance bargain. I am 70 years old and have never owned an American car. I have a 2020 HTC on order and I am totally excited to get it. The C8 is probably the best American sports car ever, but it's not a Porsche.
yeap your right... it’s way better.... I have one and many other German cars... This is the ONE!!!!!!
Stop sitting on the bolster when getting in and out of the car, and the seat won't look like that.
If getting in and out on that seat can cause that in a few weeks, there is SOMETHING WRONG.
It takes most $10-20K vehicles years at a minimum to develop that effect.
