How do you chose one? There is so many that look the same but have a pretty large price spread. How do I know what one is best?
I would like to use mine for recording track and AX sessions with Torque(or track addict) obd2 Bluetooth and a 10k external GPS. Will they all work for that?

That's the head unit I bought but it was on sale before Christmas for around $220. Not really a big difference. As to the PAC module, I had a friend who is a dealer for them look up the right one and order. At the time it was like 100 with free amazon prime shipping. I didn't question it. It works fine.
Amazon is now an option for folks uncomfortable with purchasing from overseas vendors via eBay (not that I encountered or have heard of others encountering problems). For example, my head unit was sold by Pumpkin, a vendor I can recommend without reservation (very responsive and helpful).
How do you acess the usb for music? Mine is only seeing the SD card I cand find the usb flash drive anywhere in the system. Do i need to update the HU software?
Also where did you guys plug in the 2 RCAs on the PAC? I left mine disconnected, should I plug them in to something? Stock bose amp?

My steering controls aren't slow and I've never tried the USB port. I use Pandora via Bluetooth on my phone or from the pandora app on the HU using my phone as a hotspot.
I don't even have a usb drive with music anymore but if I get time I'll experiment this weekend.
I just purchased this one from Amazon. I used the PAC RP5-GM11 interface. With the car in accessory mode I get a constant hiss and with it running I get alternator whine. My car is a 2009 that had the base radio and no Bose system.

Any Ideas?
Sounds like a bad ground. There are a few ideas here.
Thank for that. I didn't think to try using Google, but I did use the forums built in search. Most of the info that I have found is for people that are using external amps. They are grounding the RCAs or using GLIs. I have no amps and no BOSE amp. I'd like to try using a better ground than the one provided be the PAC. Any suggestions on a good place to use as a ground near the HU?

Problem Solved! I had to use the "amplified" port on the PAC unit. I'm not sure why because I have a base audio system. Anyway it all works great now. I'm really happy with it so far. I'm glad that the OP was able to get the steering wheel controls to work.
I used the latest quad core model from "Joying". It has a slightly larger 7" screen but loses the DVD ability. I got the one that still has a few hard buttons and most importantly, an actual volume ****. Speaking of the volume ****, it's almost a perfect match to the factory HVAC *****.

Thank you for this! I just moved up from a C5 to a C6 and will be upgrading to a new Android head unit. This one looks fantastic with the stock interior; I'd just have to get rid of that 'joying' name at the bottom, looks hokey.
I used Google Image Search to find an appealing image, saved it to the HU and used the Wallpaper Wizard app to set it as the background. The exact image I used is here:

What dash kit did you use for your install? I am about to order the same unit.
Big thanks to the OP and all that have contributed to this thread! I managed to get all my wiring soldered and correct the first try and my install went super smooth with the PAC Module. If anyone comes across a dash kit that doesn't have to be cut to fit send us a link! Mine came out okay. . but could be better.
My only current question is does anyone know how to let audio keep playing when the car is put into reverse?

Great!
