Looks awesome Craig, always a nice neat job. Car is looking beautiful for sure. I have been filling the inside outer bumper pockets with VPA to create a more solid bumper pocket, just another option! Great job..................................... .......

Thanks Roger.
i reinforced them with extra fiberglass behind the pocket for a similar reason.
I have spent the last couple of days cleaning up under the vette, ready to paint rear frame etc etc.
Was very satisfying to get rid of the dirt and grease around the frame and the body even though a bit hard to get into some areas.
Have also ground down the bottom of the battery storage box that had some cracks in it, ready for laying some new glass. Possibly a half shaft has come loose in the past and hit it.
I had been using some tumblers that were designed for bullets to clean parts but the perspex barrels kept cracking over time.
After reviewing David's great thread on cleaning bolts etc I went searching for the style of tumbler he used and eventually found it at a gemstone supplier here in Australia.
Works a treat and compliments my Turbo Tumbler well.
All on my outside workbench in an attempt to keep the garage cleaner.
I also relocated my compressor outside to make some more room inside. Just need to add some proper all weather power outlets etc.
Hey Craig, I noticed that on your fiberglass repairs under the car what the tape was for. Was it to outline where the repair is or to hold down the ends of the mat. I t's early here and I was looking at your post and can't see to well. Can;t believe how the ends of the short shafts wear out like that. Rear casing looks awesome. Love the outside work space also. All in all a great reflection on how well you work and do things!

Thanks Roger
The tape on the battery box is at the edge of the repair area. I ground down the original glass so that there was a taper point to lay new glass to. That way when I sand down through the tape I know I am sort of at the correct level.
i also put a layer of epoxy over the boxes to seal them up. Then I will spray them with bed liner when I am happy with them.
Show us the metal mask product you are using, never heard of it yet it looks like a very nice finish. Your right about the rear housing being heavy and awkward to carry.

Hi Roger, Metal Mask is a paint by POR15 that is meant to look like bare cast original metal.
I have used it on lots of parts from sway bars, master cylinder etc etc.
Can be sprayed or applied with foam brush and then it smooths itself out.
I have finished painting most of the rear frame. Its a shame there is so much welding splatter all over these frames but that's just the way it was in that era.
For the battery boxes i gave them a final coat of epoxy and will then spray them and the wheel wells with bed liner once this is all set up.
The battery box repairs came up nicely, the pictures don't show it as its epoxy over different colours of filler, glass etc. Looks a bit strange but will look good once it has a consistent colour over it...I hope.
