Doorgunner's '68 Convertible Project

The weatherstrip is cured completely and hasn't fallen off YET

( I made a previous attempt at passenger door weatherstrip....applied the adhesive/set the weatherstrip in place/closed the door/opened it the next day....the weatherstrip fell on the garage floor
)

First: Rebuild the speedometer and install correct drive/driven gears
THAT gets you prepared to rebuild the transmission

The transmission has just a few more parts than the speedometer......and is MUCH easier to to work with than a REAR BUMPER CONVERSION.
By the way...I mentioned this before...I used my dial calipers (yes, I'm spastic) to get all the gaps corrected before the car went to the painter. He was careful NOT to sand the gap edges on the doors/deck lid.
WHEN I began assembling EVERYTHING after paint-NOTHING fit correctly

I previously/before paint...spent days getting 1/4" gaps between the rear bumper edges and the tail light panel.
It measured 1/2" to 5/8" gap after paint when I bolted on the chrome bumpers

The door-to-quarter panel gap increased from 5/32" to 1/2"

BUT...the PTSD has let up...so I'm having fun re-re-readjusting EVERYTHING

OR...one of You members says..."Hey, try THIS!"
Time to go to the hardware store...need self-locking nuts for the 1/8" deck lid actuator rods.
Edit: after some digging I see it is a T45RS trans from a Mustang perhaps from 1994-2004 which appears to be the generation after the Fox body Mustangs.

In 2007 I rebuilt a 700R4...got it correct the 1st time!
This 4l60E(lectronic) isn't a big deal......except for programming a standalone controller/I couldn't find a 4L60(No E) locally...shipping would have been $$$.
Also...it's about impossible to disable all the extra solenoids and still have a transmission that will shift

My wife said "It has a bit of Orange in it!" She was r-r-ri-right
....but it's close enough for me.So...I have 42" of depth in the cargo area now
My wife will fill that area full of suitcases on long trips.

I think it's called "Doorgunner Psychosis"....I was infected with it as were many other helicopter crewmembers in Nam.
Giving up isn't in the handbook
