I fabricated threaded 1/8" diameter rods for the deck lid strikers.....yep--that is black headliner glued to the underside of the lid.....

The weatherstrip is cured completely and hasn't fallen off YET
( I made a previous attempt at passenger door weatherstrip....applied the adhesive/set the weatherstrip in place/closed the door/opened it the next day....the weatherstrip fell on the garage floor )

I just reviewed your trans rebuild doorgunner. You're way more courageous than me, I certainly wouldn't take that on. I'm scared of just trying to get my 79 speedometer to work with my Kiesler 5 speed manual,

LOL...last night I was going to bump your thread to see if you were still snowed in! By the way...you are on the right track to rebuild your transmission:

First: Rebuild the speedometer and install correct drive/driven gears

THAT gets you prepared to rebuild the transmission

The transmission has just a few more parts than the speedometer......and is MUCH easier to to work with than a REAR BUMPER CONVERSION.

By the way...I mentioned this before...I used my dial calipers (yes, I'm spastic) to get all the gaps corrected before the car went to the painter. He was careful NOT to sand the gap edges on the doors/deck lid.
WHEN I began assembling EVERYTHING after paint-NOTHING fit correctly
I previously/before paint...spent days getting 1/4" gaps between the rear bumper edges and the tail light panel.
It measured 1/2" to 5/8" gap after paint when I bolted on the chrome bumpers
The door-to-quarter panel gap increased from 5/32" to 1/2"

BUT...the PTSD has let up...so I'm having fun re-re-readjusting EVERYTHING

The snow has been gone for a month and a half, but I haven't gotten around to the Corvette yet. I'm lucky, my 5 speed manual trans is already rebuilt, I just have to figure out how to mate my speedometer to it which feels like a very big job to me.

Hey Priya,
Nice to see you were able to dig out of the snow and join in again this spring.

Tony,
Nice work as always!

hey priya. which keisler trans? i think they are mostly T5 from 90's mustangs. and the tail housing from a camaro T5 may fit with the manual speedo gear setup. got pics? little more homework looks like it may be a T45. halfway between a T5 and a T56. and keisler was bought by silver sport in 2014. and looks like keissler's design is the silver sport perfect fit setup.

Yep...things can seem nearly impossible. Sometimes it takes months for me to figure out how to accomplish something(usually a week of searching the internet helps me develop a plan.

OR...one of You members says..."Hey, try THIS!"

Time to go to the hardware store...need self-locking nuts for the 1/8" deck lid actuator rods.

They called it the RS400, I know it started life as a 90's or 2000's Mustang trans and T45 sounds more correct to me than T5. A note I have in my Corvette folder says Liberty Gear bought the RS transmission series from Keisler and can service it. Would the Camaro T5 tail housing fit the T45 transmission and what do you think are the odds that the Camaro tail shaft is the same length as the one that came with the RS400? I've got to narrow down the years of Mustangs this transmission came in because I never bought a shifter with the trans and Hubby says its easier to make the pistol grip shifter I want by starting with the factory Mustang shifter.

Edit: after some digging I see it is a T45RS trans from a Mustang perhaps from 1994-2004 which appears to be the generation after the Fox body Mustangs.

They look completely different. Some of these trannys had dual speedo pickups. Gear on 1 side and electric on the other. They may also be able to be converted. Worst case is a gps Speedo and your car won’t ever get any more miles on the odometer. Gotta take what silver linings we can dream up.

In 1976 I rebuilt a TH350...on the 3rd reassembly it worked perfectly!
In 2007 I rebuilt a 700R4...got it correct the 1st time!
This 4l60E(lectronic) isn't a big deal......except for programming a standalone controller/I couldn't find a 4L60(No E) locally...shipping would have been $$$.
Also...it's about impossible to disable all the extra solenoids and still have a transmission that will shift

I found a 5' x 7' $30/closeout sale red rug which looked exactly like the Vette carpet.
My wife said "It has a bit of Orange in it!" She was r-r-ri-right ....but it's close enough for me.
So...I have 42" of depth in the cargo area now
My wife will fill that area full of suitcases on long trips.

I presume when you rebuilt the TH350 3 times you also removed and installed it in the car 3 times as well? I'd have given up after it didn't work the first time. Scratch that, I'd have given up before attempting it the first time, lol

Yep....3 times! By the 3rd time I could have been a NASCAR crewmember when it came to yanking out a transmission.

I think it's called "Doorgunner Psychosis"....I was infected with it as were many other helicopter crewmembers in Nam.
Giving up isn't in the handbook
