I did notice the corvette short water pump almost touches the timing cover on both the BB & SBC. At Jeffs race shop we don't use any fancy timing covers on the race engines anyway. Just weld a little washer / spacer on the factory one. It basically touches the water pump which supports it. Grind / bend to fit the cam button inside with the proper clearance.
I'll see if I can find a pic.
This makes sense, looks like a good solution if the aftermarket cover doesn't fit.

I got to check more closely, an easy solution like this would be preferred.
HAHA yeah the fixed headlights are on the shelf, and I have a set of OEM with LED's going in! They're for sale if you'd like to ruin your car! shoot me a PM.
Still on hold waiting for the body shop to tell me to bring it down.
Should be in the next few weeks.
If not I’m moving forward and won’t worry about paint until I’m done with the chassis.

That is so beautiful Its a shame to cover it up with a body
You're telling me!!! I understand why people put mirrors under their cars now! lol After all this work, i'm certainly painting the car and keeping going until the end!!
Sand blasted and painted my rear calipers last night, so I could install them today : big improvement! One thing that bothered me last night is the half shaft and brake caliper bolts were rusted - that ain't gonna fly here! I went and got some pretty grade 8's: both of these were 7/16 - 20 fine thread bolts .
Another issue that came up last night was the spring plate bolts: I ordered reproductions, but they were an inch longer than my stock bolts, and wouldn't fit in the front of the diff! So I set out to get some replacements at my local hardware store that has three isles of bolts! These were a 9/16" bolt, and they only had them in grade 8... Which was about $4/bolt!!!! But the gold contract on the black is amazing:
Sorry I've been quiet gents, got busy, and ended up buying another toy with a SBC: a boat! Wife has been wanting one, and a buddy offered me a good deal on his boat that we liked, so I did the right thing and took him up on it! lol had to spend a couple of weeks going through it with a fine tooth comb, doing preventative maintenance, tuning it up, and making sure she'd be reliable on the water. Did a shake down run and found some bugs before I bought it, and finally was able to do a maiden voyage with my wife and we put a LOT of miles on it over the weekend! Now I got the boat work done, I feel like I've been cheating on my girlfriend: my poor C3 Corvette! So I'm getting back on her this week and finishing buttoning up the chassis and engine - stay tuned for more restoration progress!
You put miles on the car but you put “hours” on a boat.
You are smart keeping the wife happy.
You’ll enjoy boating!
I owned boats for close to 50 years and enjoyed every minute.
I wondered why it got quiet in here.
Congrats on the boat!
I have a bad habit of taking on more projects lol but this one just needed a little tune up and clean up, and I put the RV for sale to offset it!

I made her think she had to twist my arm to buy her a boat This is my first boat to own, but I've been boating and on boats my whole life. Backing this into every dock we stopped at while the bow crab walked in the current and my wife worked the stern was certainly a learning experience for both of us! LOL but we had a blast, and are looking forward to the many new adventures ahead of us! Any tips you have i'll take as i'm on the learning curve currently with this one.
