That is odd. the box itself has a three year warranty, with supposedly none on the joint especially when they're the ones that selected that joint to be used with that box

That's what I thought, they were the ones that "engineered" this to be used specifically with the box in the 63-82 Corvettes.....kind of makes me feel like they don't trust thier product. I was shocked to see this.

Maybe they'll see this and chime in. I'm curious to know exactly what they mean

Hi
I am seriously considering installing this in my C3 1979 next year as far as I can spare the cash.. Just had a new (remanufactured) steering box installed, could have saved that money, all in all 5x worse than the old one. I was just wondering about the shortening of the steering column. does it really have to be taken out? or can you collapse it when installed?

You can collapse the column in the car, no removal required. Just be careful where your swinging that hammer

You indicated that you used the univeral joint. Do you mean the u joint rather than rag joint. I have a Flaming River steering colume with a universal joint and would prefer the u joint rather than the rag. However in conversation with Borgensen, I believe he indicated I could not use the u joint. Please comment.

I used the rag joint. Not sure why Borgeson said you can't used the u joint unless they mean you can't use it with the steering column you have

Can the conversion be gotten in a 14:1 or 16:1 ratio?

Default Question for Borgeson

I'm also very interested in the steering box replacement.

The 68 originally had a telecsoping column that I replaced with an Ididit tilt column. This column cannot be collapsed so does this eliminate the installation of your steering box?

I´m running Headman headers and they fit if you dimple it a bit.

Gunther,

Thanks for the reply and great pictures. Could you give me the part number for these headers? Thanks again.

I have a set of Hedman's in my 78 with BBC, and that looks remarkably similar to where I had to dent-tune mine in order to get clearance to the STOCK steering box. how bout that!

of course, I considered dent-tuning to a normal part of the installation procedure. but that was par for the course, 10 years ago, in any header install.

Mines a 69. I am running McJacks manifold replacement style headers with 2" primaries that bolt right up to the original exhaust. Not sure if that is of any interest. I didnt want to dimple the headers so I ground the one sector gear plate thread casting to clear the header. Not a big deal at all lots of metal left. There is more room than the pictures show.

Sorry pics are so big
