Sys flashing on dash

Hello All:

Hoping someone could help me...seems like nothing but electronic issues with this damn vette!!

1994 C4, 88K miles

"SYS" flashes every now and then on the dashboard.
HELP!

Hi and welcome to the madness of owning a C-4. From what I have been told there is more wiring in this vehicle then the 1st space shuttle.

Do you own a set of FSM (Factory Service Manuals) for your model year? If not, that will be your first start if you are going to take this on yourself to diagnose the codes. I also purchased a GM Tech 1A scanner and cartridges in leiu of dealing with counting out flashes on the DIC and quicker trouble shooting. There are tons of videos and links on how to retrieve and read your codes on the CF and alot of great members to assist. JMHO, but you may want to start with a simple check on your battery condition and connections which is a major culprit of the electrical gremilins. Good luck and keep us informed.

SYS flashing every 15 seconds or so means the battery is weak and needs to be replaced.

Check that the battery connections are clean and tight. I had the sys flashing problem you describe and found the + connection on the battery loose. I ended up replacing the threaded insert inside the cable.

Question, do you have an aftermarket radio? There is a dimming circuit in the Corvette that has a light sensor hooked up to it so your dash lights will be brighter if its darker. It uses a resistance to determine if any bulbs are burned out and it checks every time the sensor determines the lighting has changed. If you have a aftermarket radio, the sys light will flash every time the lighting changes because the stock radio lighting line will show open. This happens even if the dash lights are off. There is a resister you can install that will prevent it from happening
