Bob Here;
I live in Nassau county on Long Island, NY. I have a '04 coupe. This IPOD 2 Car looks like it is pretty neat. Any ideas on who can install one in my area.

Well, picked up the iSimple from Best Buy today on the way home. Got home, opened the trunk, unbolted the CD Changer for better access to the connection, took it off, replugged it into the new cable, hooked up the interface box, connected the BLACK 12' long cable into the iPod, and had tunes in literally 5 minutes. Now all I need to do is actually take off the carpeting and get it mounted around the console somewhere. But at least for now, I think I heard my Z06 humming to itself, "I got the music in me."

Very
I got the cheap IPOD car mount that I bought off ebay yesterday. The old saying "you get what you paid for" rang true. I wouldn't put it in my Vette. I may use it in my truck to hold my cell phone on road trips.
Well, I may as well post this to the group of experts, here. Is there any way to easily override the fact that the power continues to feed to the iPod through the Peripheral interface box through the CD Changer cable? They say it's an advantage to be able to charge the iPod...that's fine for when I'm driving. But when I cut the power, overnight for example, I really don't want to keep charging the iPod. It's not good for its battery to constantly be fed juice.

Yeah, yeah...I can unplug it.
Thanks.
Not sure whnat you are talking about, when i turn off my Vette the ipod turns off and it is no longer charging.
When you hit the next button does yours go to the next song as you expect? Mine seems to just cycle through the same three of four songs. If I just let it play it's like it thinks my ipod is a CD and will just play the same 10 songs over and over!!
I've had mine installed for over a year. It has always behaved like this. As a practical matter, I find I have to be able to get to the iPod controls if I want anything other than just shuffle play.
For those who want a place for the iPod without modding the car, it will fit sideways behind the ashtray door if you remove the cigarette lighter. You just flip the door up to hit the next/back/start/stop buttons. For more control than that, you have to pull it out a bit.

It will shut itself off after a while. I've got 14 months and 30k miles on mine, no problems.

Maybe you're plugged into the back of the radio? With the CD Changer cable from the trunk, the iPod still indicates it's either charging mode by showing a lightening bolt, or that it's fully charged but plugged into a power souce with a "plug" image.

This may be be the reason. I haven't checked after 15 min to see if it's still charging or powered.....I just got it last night.

Hope so. But does yours still have a strong battery when it isn't in the car? It's one thing to be working while plugged into the car's power....it will do that till the cows come home....but once you go boarding or biking with it, an chronically overcharged battery will typically not hold a charge as long as it would if it were not being constantly charging.

The batteries will develop a memory. I sometimes take mine and just let it play until it dies even when not wearing it to completely discharge the battery.
