Could not have asked for better weather at the track rental today, the car was running great!! I only wish we could have put the stock tires on and made some passes but the z06 club that we were with would not allow us to.
Good job, Will! That is an awesome time! Did you tell them you had a reason for running the stock tires?

Thanks everyone. We told them the reason for running stock tires but they were after a record themselves, they were thinking stock tires would mess up the track prep. Its ok, we still have time for a few more runs..

What a BS excuse. The A6 cars don't spin out of the hole, they just hook and go.

I understand their reasoning.
You will do it on street tires very soon.
I was at ATCO yesterday, 41 degrees and sunny.
Unfortunately I was not in my C7, my son and I were racing our 87 Mustang since we redid the rear.
I'm glad he woke up late and met me there, I was going to bring the C7.
I said I would not run it if I brought it, but the temptation probably would have gotten me.
Now that I have aftermarket axleback it would not count as a stock A6 anyway.

Just one time wouldn't hurt it, Yell03. But I know that you are pretty skeptical as it being your daily driver. My first pass I just role into the throttle like starting at a traffic light and went 12.15. Needless to say, I was happy with that first run. On my 3rd and last pass, I just gave it a little gas about 1500rpm but still role into the throttle and went 11.94. Trust me it did not feel like a 11 second pass at all. My next outing I am going all out, especially if the track is prepped very well. Remember, you are not going for a record with your first time out. I was just curious on where the car is regarding the 1/4 mile. The magazine went 12.15 with the A6 convertible.....I just wanted to beat that time.

1. Well, according to Jason Miller, street tires will tear up the track prep.
2. Please read the rules below. Perhaps pay attention to rule #2 specifically. It would be very rude to allow street tires to run when everyone had paid for a rental that they knew no street tires would be allowed. Perhaps if you host a rental, you can have different rules.

Most will owe a balance of $43.45. It's possible someone will owe a little more due to PayPal fees.
PLEASE READ ALL INFORMATION FIRST. PLEASE READ DAILY FOR UPDATES.
1. To elaborate on the above, the total cost will dependent upon the amount of people. To rent both lanes exclusively, MIR charges $2,400 for up to the first 24 cars. Additional cars are $100/car.
Track prep is $0.50/LF beyond the first 60'. We like to have the entire track sprayed for added safety.
For example:
10 cars = $2400 + 2{(1,320-60) x $0.50} = $3,660 or $366.00/person.
15 cars = $2400 + 2{(1,320-60) x $0.50} = $3,660 or $244.00/person.
20 cars = $2400 + 2{(1,320-60) x $0.50} = $3,660 or $183.00/person.
24 cars = $2400 + 2{(1,320-60) x $0.50} = $3,660 or $152.50/person.
30 cars = $2400 + 2{(1,320-60) x $0.50} + (30-24) x $100 = $4,260 or $142.00/person.
2. This is a DR or Slick Only event. NO EXCEPTIONS.
3. A $100 deposit per person is required in cash, check or PayPal. If there are associated charges with the PayPal transaction, these will be added to your total amount due. PLEASE MAKE SURE TO SEND ENOUGH MONEY TO COVER PAYPAL FEES IF YOU CHOOSE NOT TO SEND AS A GIFT.
Deposits will be non-refundable unless cancelled by MIR due to inclement weather or we get bumped. Let me know how you wish to pay and I'll forward you my info via PM.
4. If you cannot make the event, please find someone to take your place; however, they must abide by these rules. In addition, it is at the sole discretion of robz and myself who can attend this event as a driver, spectator or a person in any other capacity.
5. All balances are due no later than 11/1.
6. Registration cut-off will be dictated by logistics. No warning will be given.
7. There will be a meeting and a sign-in the morning of the event. Please arrive early.
Well if the rules for an event state only DR's or Slicks that's what the rules state. But, I for one had well over 120 runs with my C6 with the stock Goodyear run flats at Englishtown in the Corvette Challenge and only made about 30 runs with DR's in the same car. Stock tires do not lay down as much rubber on a treated track as DR's and slicks but if you stay out of the water box they run fine. Plus, the tires on my C7 really hook as well as the DR's I used on my C6. This was one big and pleasant surprise I had with my C7.

You will easily run better if you come out hard on a well prepped track.
If you ran 11.9@116 coming out easy I see you going at least 0.2 and 2mph better.
My Vert is base 1lt, I doubt it weighs more than a 2lt Z51 Coupe, one of these days I'll run it.
I understand what they were doing and by far thankful for the chance to run the car. I was simply saying it would have been nice to get a few street tire runs in on a day with such nice weather. No harm intended....

I feel .2 and 2 mph better out of my car. The DA down here is not going to allow us to put out amazing numbers like the guys up north.
Like I have said time after time, the A6 and A8 should be close unless GM gave the A8 more horsepower. It appears that Farmer is about a couple of hours from his home town, Virginia. MIR in Maryland can produce some great numbers. We can't wait to check this out.
HP has nothing to do with it. With all being equal under the hood the 8 speed will be faster. The trans shifts faster and less RPM drop than the 6 speed which means the 8 speed keeps the car in the meaty part of the torque band where the 6 spd has to rev back up into it. It is not anything that can be fixed.

Hello......, there is a tranny tune for the A6. What it can do for the A6.....I don't know because I don't have a tune on my A6 as of yet. Anything can be fixed....that's what modification is for.

Well I am a calibrator and it can't fix it. It can make it better over stock yes, but it will never be as fast as a A8. Not unless you know of a way to speed up the rate that the RPM's drop. The reason a A8 can shift so fast is because the gear split is less. The trans is pulling the engine down less than the A6, so you get full engagement of the clutch faster. That is only half the issue, the A8 doesn't drop out of the RPM band or as far out as the A6. You can't fix those two issues with any laptop. If you have a way to keep the RPM's from falling and to get the clutch to engage before that happens so that the trans does not destroy itself, I am all ears.
Technology has just gotten better and the A6 is not going to equal the A8. Doesn't mean you can't make some improvements on the A6, but it will never equal and A8 with comparable mods.
Well it seems like I am not making a point here since I have never driven an A8. The only point I am making here is that the A6 and A8 are still close as far as quickness and 1/4 mile times. Some members are making or giving assumption that the A8 is so much faster than the A6. We all know by now that the A8 transmission is superior over the A6 in almost every aspect. However, that doesn't mean that A8 is going to destroy the A6 at any given time at the track. As far as mod comparison take this for instance.....Farmer went 11.31@121 with DR's only, Brent went 11.06@125 with Headers, DR's and tune. I believe that headers and tune should be worth at least two tenths. Now for a comparison, Farmer should be able to pull off 11.11 with the same mods but then I would be speculating. And, I would call that very close. Hence, both cars are probably running in the best conditions for drag racing. Just my thoughts and that's all.
