Based on what I've read is that wrap like that will get the cats too hot and they'll die prematurely.

I guess I'm not wrapping the cats with this tape then.
Thanks!

I think this will work "better" as it'll shield more, but not trap it in as much?

I always wrapped my converters. Never had one die early. But then again I do not keep my cars long. Here is a picture of my American racing headers . I wrapped them with the titanium lava wrap. From Amazon.

I also had my headers cats and mufflers and mid pipes jet coated. Then I wrapped them. I know it’s a little over kill. But you need to keep the engine compartment cool as possible.
This is a one off exhaust with 2 mufflers and it’s center exit. Like c5-6&7.

This is the left muffler. It’s jet coated black

This is the right side. The black muffler is behind the screen.

2M said that it was fine to wrap the cats. They said that cheap ceramic cats might fail if wrapped but not theirs.

Awesome, how much wrap did that take? Looks like 2" width.

That makes this much easier. I guess becuase there's less of the material that it doesn't slow down as much so it doesn't heat up as much?

Either way I think I'll just wrap it for now. Everything I'm reading is people saying not to in general, but then several people say they have wrapped it and had no issues.

One roll per header. Both cats took about 2/3rds of a roll.

50ft rolls? 30 ft rolls? Sorry I am just trying to make sure I have enough when it comes in.

I ordered two rolls last night which will arrive on Sunday and the headers arrive Monday. I'm going to get a baseline dyno today, after I install both (nothing else has been done) I'll do another dyno on a "similar" day weather wise. I originally wanted to do just the headers, then just the cats, then both but too much work and the shops are all charging way too much for dyno time. Don't want to wait for 4 dyno days...

So....Can we get a shot from the rear with the center exit exhaust and a pic of the engine compartment? Thanks in advance-just planning ahead...!!

It’s not done yet. I removed the square tips. And replaced them with borla tips Naturally I had to modify the rear diffuser to except the center exit exhaust. So it’s now being made into carbon fiber. After I get it back I will post some finished pics with a video.

They arrived on friday and I got it all wrapped on Friday/Sat (used 3x 2"x50' rolls) then removed the old ones on Sat afternoon/evening and installed them on Sunday morning. Sounds great, no idea on performance. Took them for more of a drive today and they sound great. I tried to get a video of the popping with a gopro and it was all wind noise.

After about 10 miles of driving I did get a CEL.

Anyone else get a CEL from the sport cats?

The P25A2 came on when the car was on the dyno and the shop didn't know how to dyno the C8.... Although it went off Saturday before I started working on it. Not sure if it's still just hanging around or what. The rest seem to be related to the cats / cylinder deactivation / fuel pump.

No CEL for me, I have had them on for about 600 miles. Maybe you have a connector that is not snapped in all the way.

The C8 does not like to be on the Dyno... you will have to turn all Traction control off and drive it for a few minutes on the Dyno to get through all the faults then you can do a couple pulls. P.S. make sure Frunk and Hatch are closed.

Yeah I learned that on the dyno you need to drive until the abs pops on. Sadly it through the drivetrain faults before then.

Did you reset the ecu when you put it back together? I didn't disconnect the battery when I worked on it.

I'm wondering if it's looking how efficient it was before (original cat) and comparing it to now (sport cat) and noticing it isn't as good as previously. Where as if I reset the ecu maybe it would set the baseline as the sport cat and be happy.

I have only the cats installed, headers were too tall for the vert. So far no CEL and the sound is loud. I did wrap the cats with some blankets to keep some heat down in the enclosed vert engine bay.

Did you clear the ECU / disconnect battery when you installed? What heat wrap did you use on the cats? I am probably going to switch to something different eventually. The cats shouldn't be terribly hard to pull out and swap back in.

I did not disconnect the battery when I did my install. When I did some test starts to check for exhaust leaks "without the air box on and about three connectors unconnected" my CEL came on and threw some errors in the display panel. After I confirmed there were no exhaust leaks I shut it off and then disconnected the positive terminal for about 10 minutes to clear whatever it was throwing. I reinstalled the airbox and connected all the electrical connecters and I was good. No codes so far and it sounds great. I get pops and cracks and its loud!

Sounds like the converters may not have enough precious metals in them.
If so the light will keep coming on.
Also, go get your self a code reader, that way you can read your codes. And erase them properly.
Don’t keep unplugging the battery, to clear the codes. Not good.
