Yet again, despite a slew of gun laws and a few more under consideration by the state, absolutely nothing stopped this from happening. Yes, the shooter had his FOID revoked, but it seems no one bothered to actually do anything about his gun. At that point, removing his FOID accomplished jack squat, didn’t it?

Amends the Firearm Owners Identification Card Act. Provides that 180 days after the effective date of the amendatory Act, an applicant for the issuance or renewal of a Firearm Owner's Identification Card shall include a full set of his or her fingerprints in electronic format to the Department of State Police for the purpose of identity verification, unless the applicant has previously provided a full set of his or her fingerprints to the Department under the Act or the Firearm Concealed Carry Act."

"When the sheriff’s office is notified of a FOID card revocation in Lake County, a team of detectives will be sent out to try to get the person’s card and guns, as well as his or her concealed carry permit, if necessary."

State police also will start providing local law enforcement with a list of firearms purchased by people whose cards were later revoked. This specific reform could rankle gun rights advocates, who have long objected to the government keeping tabs on who is purchasing guns.
“I am not for people going through people’s personal records,” Richard Pearson, executive director of the Illinois State Rifle Association, told the Tribune last week. “You’ve got people who would love to get in there and mess with this. And it’s none of their business.”

SPRINGFIELD - The Democrats are upset that a growing number of Illinois counties are challenging their ideas to control guns throughout the state. So much so, they're working on an effort to stop counties from balking state laws they believe limit Second Amendment rights.
Within days of his inauguration, Gov. JB Pritzker pleased his gun control supporters by placing additional restrictions on Illinois gun shops. As a result, several gun shops are reporting to be closing their doors - exactly what the gun control advocates hoped would happen.

House Bill 1284, sponsored by Representative Jim Lucas (R-69), would provide immunity for a justified use of force in certain instances to help prevent frivolous lawsuits. Victims of violent crime shouldn’t be subjected to unnecessary civil suits, therefore being victimized twice. This bill would also require a court to award, in certain instances, reasonable attorney's fees if it determines a suit was brought unjustly, helping to prevent financial ruin for individuals protecting themselves and others.

Deerfield Assault Weapons Ban: Judge Blocks Village's Ban

DEERFIELD, IL — The judge presiding over an assault weapons ban lawsuit ruled that the ordinances Deerfield proposed in the ban were unenforceable and ended the case, according to reports. Daniel Easterday, who filed the first lawsuit challenging the proposed 2018 assault weapons ban, told Patch the judge granted a permanent injunction against the Village of Deerfield.
The judge said "The village was not legal in how they passed that ordinance and that it went against" the Illinois Concealed Carry Act, according to Easterday.

WSIL -- Thousands of gun owners will march to the Capitol on Wednesday for Illinois Gun Lobby Day.
Richard Pearson is the the Executive Director of the Illinois State Rifle Association and is an advocate in Springfield for gun rights.
Pearson said in a one-on-one interview with News 3 Monday night at a town hall in Mt. Vernon, these new gun laws that legislators are trying to pass will make felons out of law-abiding citizens.
He said the only way to make these bills slow down the process from becoming law is for people to be involved in their government.
"We are the most law-abiding citizens in the state of Illinois and we have to put up with the most grief," Pearson said.

CHICAGO (AP) — A Chicago man found dead over the weekend inside a vehicle was involved in an early test of Illinois' concealed carry law.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — Rocker Ted Nugent had something to say to those voicing their disapproval over the McHenry County Fair's choice to have the performer as the 2019 headliner. The McHenry County Fair announced Friday that rocker Ted Nugent will headline the 2019 fair festivities on Aug. 3, and it didn't take long for a social media battle to ensue.
As of Wednesday afternoon, more than 1,400 comments can be seen under the Facebook post announcing the highly controversial performer's concert date, ranging from "so excited" to "I won't be attending," with some additional choice words thrown into the mix. Nugent didn't hesitate to share a Northwest Herald article about the backlash to his own Facebook page.
In his Facebook post, Nugent wrote, "Only liars and America hating scumbags have a problem with me. My spirit irritates their demons!"
