Article sums it up pretty well. The sad reality is that we are still a long ways off from this being law and us getting our carry conceal permits in IL. It probably will be at least one year.

The writer presents the worst case scenarios at every turn. Then everybody goes That's a good attention getter for his readers (Missouri and down-state residents), but I don't see it playing out that way. However, even if it does, we will be permitted to carry soon, soon being a relative term.

This old guy's opinion.
Bummer that our CCW will probably have zero reciprocity. Neighboring CCW states will just have to do what's been done in the past regarding carry while in IL.

Illinois' lack of reciprocity will keep my Utah (non-res) permit valid.

(4) (a) In addition to meeting the other qualifications for the issuance of a concealed firearm permit
under this section, a nonresident applicant who resides in a state that recognizes the validity of the
Utah permit or has reciprocity with Utah's concealed firearm permit law shall:
(i) hold a current concealed firearm or concealed weapon permit issued by the appropriate
permitting authority of the nonresident applicant's state of residency; and
(ii) submit a photocopy or electronic copy of the nonresident applicant's current concealed
firearm or concealed weapon permit referred to in Subsection (4)(a)(i).

2. The Governor can take no action and in 60 days the bill becomes law but that would push us passed the July 8th day. It is conceivable the court could grant another extension.
3. The Governor could veto the bill.
4. The Governor could use an Amendatory Veto (AV). Number 3 and 4 would mean it would be October 22nd before an override of the Governor's veto could happen.

The people in control here in the Peoples Republic of Illinois bleed blue and are worthless pieces of liberal garbage, who will do whatever they can do to continue to violate our 2nd Amendment Rights. I predict they do everything in their power to delay the inevitable as long as possible, and that Quinn will attempt a Veto (#3 or #4) above, and then they would wait as long as possible to attempt overide of said Veto, which I hope does not take as long as October to happen but won't be surprised if things do get delayed that long!!!

WASHINGTON (AP) — Prosecutors are recommending four years in prison for former congressman Jesse Jackson Jr., following his guilty plea this year on criminal charges that he engaged in a scheme to spend $750,000 in campaign funds on personal items.
The government is also recommending that Jackson pay $750,000 in restitution to the campaign.
Court papers filed in the case say Jackson used campaign money to buy items that included a $43,350 gold-plated men's Rolex watch and $9,587.64 worth of children's furniture.
He is scheduled to be sentenced on July 3 along with his wife, Sandra. She pleaded guilty to filing false joint federal income tax returns that understated the income the couple received.
Jackson is a Democrat. He resigned his Illinois congressional seat in November.
