Not a problem. This is in the Tech section, but many weren't venturing in there. This will be made a sticky here shortly. This thread will mirror the Tech section thread, as well.

What a GREAT thread!!! :woohoo: |
what about the full reboot process on the memory seats?
It may already be available, but where? Also if it is, or is made available, will the "flash upgrade" have any notable affect on the reboot?
Thanks for a GREAT THREAD! bill |
This will be very helpful when at the track pads and rotors.

How to Remove the OEM Lower Coil Covers?
Hello,
I am in the process of installing new Lower Coil Covers on my C7, Z51 (dry sump engine)... I had no trouble removing the OEM Lower Coil Cover on the driver side, but I have encountered a problem with the passenger side Coil Cover.... There is what appears to be a vacuum line for the dry sump system protruding from the OEM Lower Coil Cover, along with a nipple style plug in a rubber grommet. I have wiggled, pulled, and twisted it, but it doesn't move. FYI, it is located about in the center of the Lower Coil Cover; and, this "connector" that I am referring to is the white colored image on the passenger side, Lower Coil Cover, near the center of the Coil Cover, and adjacent to the fuse box...(see the pix below). The problem is I am having difficulty "unplugging" that rubber grommet/ connector so I can remove the OEM Lower Coil Cover. Obviously, I am concerned about breaking the plug and/or rubber grommet; so, does anyone know how to remove it??? Thanks!! https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...52483451ca.jpg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...de7b699d7a.jpg |

Carefully pull on it while applying gentle force with a very thin panel tool to loosen one clip side and then repeat for the other. The clips are quite fragile - mine broke the first time it was removed. |

While I would have preferred for you to have started a new thread for this, there is a simple answer.

Just to confirm about the two plastic clips - there is one on each side of the opening, as opposed to one on top and one on the bottom of the opening? Thanks, again! |

On mine (which should be the same plastic casting), the clips were front (toward the hood) and back (toward the cabin). Several people have broken these, and there is no easy part replacement - you need the whole damned tube assembly. A lot of it came from being cold and brittle in the winter months. With heat from a recently-warm engine, I think they'd come out rather easily. If you do end up breaking it, one of the clips will fall into the hole - use a spring-grabber or a dowel and bubble gum to grab it out. Ask how I know... After that, you can get by with the single clip and a larger O-ring to hold it in place. Edit: This reminds me to look in the newly-updated GMSO parts system to see if they sell just those connectors. I'm sure a lot of people will end up breaking them sooner or later. |

Question, is there a posting anywhere for how to turn on the rear camera and have the in-dash display show the rear camera shot all of the time so we can see out the rear? The convertible does not allow very good rear vision except looking up out the back. Looking straight out the back, or down is impossible unless you cram your heat into the top. |
No the cam cannot stay on at all times....in a stock car.....alcohol wipe the lens for best view....

Updated with additional guides including rear fenders, rear scoops, etc.

Very Nice!!! Thank You!!!

Theta - for those of us who are keeping track of all this great information you are posting, would it be possible for you to indicate exactly which of those files you update when a change is made. A simple notation like (Updated 1/26/15) or something similar after the individual link would be appreciated. Thanks.
|
Absolutely! I will start adding that on from this point.
|
If you could post a 'how to' on removing the Z06 front fender extensions I would be grateful.
Thanks. |
Missed this one - I'll start adding some Z06 stuff including this. Info finally got added to the system not too long ago.

How to guides
Extremely informative, you are absolutely awesome.
Thank you for taking an incredible amount of time to perform and data enter all of this information, it certainly helped me out. Torcher :flag: |
Great thread - thanks:cheers:

How hard is it to replace the front fender lonvers from flash black to silver/chrome?
thanks for the excellencent writeups. |
Could we please get a how to on changing the differential fluid on a Z51 mag ride car?
|
|
Incredible set of instruction. Thanks.
I'd love to see a write up on the exchange of the stock radiator to the DeWitts one. Possibly the best mod there is for anyone planning to drive the Stingray as it was meant to be driven. |
I can put up the radiator swap instructions. It's a direct fit, so you'd just follow the R&I.

Can you do a brake line how-to? Looking to do stainless steel lines. Thanks!
|
Hmm, thought there was one. I've been wanting to do that, too (ever since Spiegler came out with lines back in 1Q2014). Just been putting it off. :D
If not, I'll put one up for you. |

Rear Rotor Removal
When removing the rear rotors you might want to add a note to make sure the parking brake is not applied. One question do I need to disable the cable adjuster when replacing my rear brake rotors ?

Carefully pull on it while applying gentle force with a very thin panel tool to loosen one clip side and then repeat for the other. The clips are quite fragile - mine broke the first time it was removed. So what you are saying is that the clips are on the underside of that white connector, inside the coil cover? If so, can't you just lift up on the coil cover and reach under there to release the clip? |
I love reading all these how-to's, thank you very much for posting them! Any chance I could bribe you into posting one for the M7 transmission fluid change as well?

Hard to draw concrete conclusions with different ambient temps at all the track days since the installation. It did not solve the problem though I know that for certain as I had a DIC trans temp warning after 20 mins in 90F weather. I did a track day this last weekend with ambient temps of 65F and by manually paddle shifting my trans only got to 252. The combination of exhaust wrap near the trans, DEI cool tape in al exposed trans lines near the exhaust, Z06 scoops and manually paddle shifting worked in this low air temps.

Great info. Thanks.

Front licence Platte install
Trying to install a show & Go front licence plate on my 2016 c7 z51 3lt.
The one I purchased is manual and should be easy install, but picture & detail is so small and dark I can't figure it out. Anyone have or know of video I could watch? Also their is a bracket that screws into existing screw holes, but one of the screws is also a snap head screw used for the front bra install. Any ideas on how to do this? Thanks |
Run a Wire into cockpit?
Quick question: What is the easiest way to run a wire from the engine compartment into the cockpit? I want to install a switch for Wild to Mild equivalent. Thanks

Thanks to all who have contributed to this awesome thread. Helped me out several times in my 9 months of ownership. Here's one I'm searching for. Has anyone done a seatbelt swap write up? I know the concept, remove most of the side panels, but looking more specifically for tips and tricks to speed up the process or more importantly, avoid any damage
