That'a boy Tony, looks like you can get some stuff done when you feel good, the planets align themselves and the weather is right. The clip is slowly being reincarnated into a 69.
In baton rouge. That is one of the few 68's that won't be repaired. But there is a lot of parts there. May go as high as 5k. But my guess is closer to 2.5. And this is less than an hour from you Tony? Mebbe you should go see it. Just the bumpers and headlight assy and you are at 2k. Is that a tilt wheel? Somebody took the carb and dropped an old afb on there so there has been some picking already done off that car. Looks like correct radio.

Derek...it wouldn't hurt to take a look, but te bulk of my money is dedicated to the paint job that is under way. I'm trying to get the front clip ready to set on the body around the same time the Painter finishes the rest of the car.
I'll call the owner of the wrecked car to see if he is willing to sell individual parts. Because of the PTSD I don't want an additional project...the PTSD is too random and debilitating to take a chance on another project, but I see your point of I could get a good deal on the wrecked car.
Copart. Insurance auction site. Whole car or don't waste your time.
Thanks Derek.....I was afraid of that......I need the $3000 to make the final payment on the Paint when it's finished
I wanted to repair the 3 new voids I found on the friont clip....but have been fighting a central a/c problem all day....my wife thinks some kids drained the Freon last night/she heard some noise on the side of the house where the a/c is located.
Looks like I'll get back to the clip tomorrow...if so, the clip will be squared-away from the door gaps to thefront of the hood opening.
QUESTION: SHOULD I SET THE CLIP ONTO THE CHASSIS AND BOLT IT DOWN WITH THE HOOD IN PLACE BEFORE I CUT OFF THE DAMAGED HEADLIGHT AREA AND GRAFT THE PIECES YOU AND RVZIO HOOKED ME UP WITH?????????????
Yes. Bumpers too. To make sure all gaps will be good. One guy did his nose install and bumper was about a half inch too far north. Bolt it up to rad support. That can be moved up down front back even a little sideways if needed. Also, you don't know for sure if your headlight holes are currently in the right place. Bubba wasn't even named that yet when he effed up that nose. Measure your headlight holes to hood and we can get 20 or 30 guys to compare to theirs.

This is the repair piece I will use...……...
6 & 1/4" from hood outboard corner to headlight opening...…….
6 & 3/8" from hood opening to midway of headlight opening...…...

Tony, I would temporarily tape up that header support while doing the mock up or remove it. It is important for locating light assemblies but would be something you could put back later. I agree with D, put as much stuff back on the car as you can including keeping car on ground with tires. Mocking things up can be a pain? yes it can but you won't have any surprise down the road.

Nothing fancy, just wood on top of a moving dolly and a 2x4. That setup allowed me to go up and down making various adjustments.

How about these numbers?...….I need to make sure the wheel well arches are centered on both sides of the clip.........…...............…...
My headlight to hood is the same 6-1/4. Mine is 75 though. The nose i used for a mold is back in the yard. And it is aftermarket, so dimensions could be off. The REAL dimension you need is the whole hood surround length. Your 68 has the long hood and no wiper door if i remember correctly. Maybe cut your bad headlight piece off flush with the front of hood opening. Then you will have about an inch overlap with Roger's maroon piece. Then put it together with a few small screws or pop rivets saving that overlap for the moment. I have a feeling if you line those 2 rounded hood opening corners up, the nose piece is gonna fall right into place. Then if the paint shop is close enough and the car is where you can work on it, go do some fitting, measuring. Fab bonding strips out of scraps and then even if cut a little short, you have some wiggle room. Cuz if you can get back there with a finished nose before he shoots the paint...

Yep Derek.....what surprised me is the inboard measurement is 1/4" longer........GM/what you gonna do with 'em.
I still have to flip over the clip and reinforce the inner walls where i made all the repairs (i already reinforced the side vents,)....hopefully today on the flip.
Stole/borrowed/set free...….the system holds 7.5 lbs. In two days I put a total of 6 lbs. in the lines...
Freon huffing, as it is called, involves the inhalation of the gas from a plastic bag that is placed entirely over the head. Freon as an intoxicant works by driving oxygen out of the bloodstream, and it is this oxygen-depleted state that is responsible for the light-headed feelings of giddiness that huffers come to crave so desperately.
So......on to the front clip...…..Precious had me running the roads all day so I'm 24 hours (and 5 years) behind schedule. The outside of the clip has been repaired up to the headlight openings. Hopefully tomorrow I can flip it/grind out any voids in the repairs/build the inner wall up at each repair.
In the meantime I took the repair pieces and laid them over the damaged nose to get an idea of what is next per RVZIO and Derek......
Yea. that's what I'm talking about. Starting to come to life. Do you still need those measurements for the clip? I can get them of the 69 just let me know.
