Naturally.....there were more errands today....but I picked up more plumbing stuff on the way home.......then this happen in about two hours (No More Hot Fuel Lines!)..................
The regulator supply and return lines are installed......I had to angle the regulator down about 1/2" to clear the air plenum................
It's a close fit/about 1/8" gap b/twn the regulator and the plenum.....I'll put a 1/8" gasket under the plenum later.......
Tomorrow I'll finish running the return line to the gas tank, then run the pump, check the fuel pressure at the carb, adjust the regulator and go for a test drive.

Test drive coming up! May the force be with you. Go Tony Go!

No test drive yet....I started the car today.....found one fuel leak---tightened the fitting and checked/re-set the timing now that the distributor is working correctly.
The regulator was set for max pressure/9psi which caused the car to run as though the choke had closed (the air plenum was removed...the choke was fully opened).
I adjusted the pressure down slowly and midway the engine idled smoothly.
It starts well now in about two engine revolutions cold or hot.....no more constant cranking with the accelerator to the floor.
There is visible fuel return inside the tank....all is well.
Gunner, those are impressive temp. differentials, fairly simple and economical, makes you wonder why it wasn't done in first place.
Now put a damn A/C unit in the garage so we can see a temp. diff. From 98 to at least 80 deg.
Good job, now hit the road.

I guess it was the technology of the time and GM wasn't going to "fix anything that worked or cost more."
When you have to adjust the idle air screws 3/4 turn total each screw, you know the engine is liking the cooler fuel!!!!
The yard work is done......now to install that fuel pump relay (so I don't forget to unplug the fuel pump power wire when I park the car....I already have the fuse block maxxed out with two e-fan relays, electric x-tra loud air horns, security system relay, etc!

Slideshow: A Jaguar designer's personal project imagines what a modern front-engined Corvette might look like if Chevrolet revisited the golden age of the Stingray.
