I started reading this from the beginning and then could not stop thinking the thread would stop at a finished swap with video/audio. I was rewarded with frustration as it is still a work in progress. Now I know how YOU feel! OK this is way better entertainment that any TV series, want the next installment yesterday. Way cool and beyond my skills, awesome work, hope you never have to sell it as that is from the heart, it would be like parting with your left lugnut.

HAHAHAH- thanks. I have seen many threads just sort of stop and the owner/builder /car never heard from again!!!

I'm still at it!! I am headed up to Corvette Expo in Sevierville,TN this weekend with my 73- and maybe pick up some parts.

I got my gas tank mounted- looking at the bracket- it didn't seem that tough to flip it over and drop it about 3 inches down. It gave me the extra clearance for lines/vent so I did it. Just had to make up a second bracket to secure the tank- along w/ the stock straps.

I made a plastic what looks like a "dog lampshade collar" to go between the deck and the rubber neck filler- to keep water running out the drain line.

Next big step was to Lizard Skin the interior. I completely coated the cabin- in hopes to keep the heat out.

I made an access panel for the engine management -running through the center of the firewall- to help hide the wires. Used a BMW grommet to run the wires through.

I also figured out where to relocate the fuse box- since the "Astro Vents" are no longer going to function- running Vintage Air- I'll mount the fusebox in the kickpanel vent location-run the wires inside the fender to hide as well.

I will also have my extra fuse /relays mounted in the jack storage compartment.

Default It's ALIVE!!!!

OK- Big milestone...

After messing for several days (well maybe a week...) to get the crank and cam sensors to sync...and some software bugs worked out...

She lite off!!!
Well- I sort of cheated by priming the Throttle bodies w/ gas in a spray bottle- But I have correct ignition.

Next I've got to work the fuel tables- since it looks like I am not getting enough fuel to run.

Here's the trigger log-If you only knew what it took to get it to look like this!!!

toothlogger012515 by richardhayes454, on Flickr

Here's the cam and the crank sensor- nice straight red line- means there are no errors in syncing the two sensors!!!

composite012515 by richardhayes454, on Flickr

Here's a quick Video- I mean really quick - but success non the less... all 12 firing...

WOW! I'm still freaking out over the precision 2x4 supports . How did you ever get to sleep after hearing it fire for the first time, sound was brief but awesome. Nice.

Ummm- I probably will be up till the wee hours in the morning... I've been feverishly all over the web- 266 pages of the owners manual- clicking everything in the set-up software to figure out the fuel tables...

Found this a WHILE BACK-

Pretty secure compared to this-

ok it's a Mustang!!!!

Quick Update...

My laptop keeps going on/off line while I am cranking ... so I can get any log info.

Tomorrow I'm going to try my GF's laptop...then if all else fails -take my desktop I'm just using for TV internet- and drag it down here to the basement...

It's trying...

Without further ado-

You guys are sitting back eating popcorn???

A little progress....

First I tried another laptop...to no avail- keep disconnecting w/ ECU when I would crank it...

I did some test files and sent them to Brian @ EFI Analytics, Inc(Tuner Studio Software)

He thought having my LS coils not mounted to metal- chassis grounded- might cause some problems w/ the Laptop- He had the same issue.

Well- I grounded all 12 and it WORKED!!!...then found out the ECU has a SD card on board and can log w/o being connected to a Laptop...

So now I am looking at all these lines on a graph and figure out what I need to do!!!

I'm always good with outside the box. I think its a cool swap. Not a common swap, however I enjoy the engineering of new concepts in custom car building. I think a Chevy in a BMW would be more common. You may have a following and may an op to build/sell install kits. I have never been a purest and enjoy come custom work. I also glad that the purest are out there preseving the C3.

Would be cool to hear what a V12 would sound like exhausting though side pipes.

What is the difference in those numbers between AFR and AFR load? Should more than one sensor be showing AFR?

Popcorn for everyone!!!

It's running.....

After checking EVERYTHING...and I mean everything...Recalibrating..Changing the start-up tune- numerous times-

It was the fuel pressure regulator...I put some vise grip in the return line and she started right up. So the regulator was just letting the fuel run back to the tank- not enough pressure for the injectors!!!

Have the O2 sensor disconnected - and haven't done ANY tuning-or after start enrichment- no exhaust- but here's the video-

Here's a little revving-
