The Force Awakens...
I once more pulled the steering column.
I can’t believe the new carpet already looks somewhat dirty. Fortunately I ordered some dark blue floor mats from Willcox. Hmmm, just seeing this pic annoys me. I am looking FW to cleaning this up !
And here’s the problem with my power brake conversion. The yoke doesn’t come out far enough and because of that I’m losing a lot of travel as the yoke pulls the pedal way down when at rest.
Willcox shipped last week. I should get all the parts to rebuild my suspension in 10 days, I think.

In the meantime let’s get a closer look at the seats.
This was the status quo ante.
Degreased and thoroughly cleaned ...again.
Don’t mind the background mess. I don’t know how that got there. It wasn’t there yesterday.

Safety first.
The color change. Back to original bright blue.
In my paint booth, a +100-year-old basement. Bright blue.
This mechanism was not quite working well. Smooth as glass now.
The corners of the original backing plates were all cracked off. They were original also sanded and painted over so many times they had lost all texture. Also the lever and bezel were rattling around under the backing plate. Nice to see it as it should be. Bubba

I love that bright blue color. Also, the little tab that goes on the emergency brake got a coat.
Closer.
Assembled.
Satisfying.
Brakes and clutch pedal need to be back into spec before I put these seats back in #frustrating

Just connected to the brakes?
I'd really like to find someone who converted the old T handle shifter to have a reverse lockout switch in it. (Same as stock, where you would have to actuate the T-handle to get it into reverse) Maybe not quite as necessary with the shift pattern of the T5, but I'm trying to put in an old T56 from a 1997 trans am.

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
These are just a few of the items shipped.
The dust shield on my ride seemed to have been plasma cut to be installed. The right thing to do is replace it. And of course the brake hoses as well.
A luxury item. It is annoying to ask a family member to pump a brake pedal for a long while.
I don’t like the way my OEM bracket is reaching around the headers. The alternator pulley is clearly no longer straight. A Summit brand, let’s see if this works.
This is the new Sharkbite strut rod kit. I was a bit surprised that a. It wasn’t black powder coat as on pic (don’t really care) b. The heim joints are very stiff (I like that). It’s is definitely a quality piece.
All U-joints and bearings will be replaced. Some shims here and rubber bushings. I also bought the installer tools
And of course one of the main reasons behind all this - a broken leaf on the rear spring. This looks like a quality piece as well.

What # rating rear spring did you decide on?
Have you decided what shocks you'll use with it?
#frustrating
First checked the threads of the shock mount. Being bit mangled I couldn’t get the tool on there. But, since there was a flat on the shock mount, I couldn’t get the die to seat either. So it was a small file and a lot of patience.
Finally I got the tool on there.
Some heat.
And while still hot come at it with an air hammer.
And out !
Working a nut up and down a few times I managed to recover the threads
I managed to salvage the parts. That is 2 $44 saved, excluding VAT and shipping.
