Not yet. I want the rolling frame, complete with engine, trans and exhaust mocked up, pristine and ready to go before I take that one on. I’m sure it will require all my attention

Time to take on the diff

I was hoping this would come off easily. It came off too easily. What a mess.

Stub axles look in reasonable shape. The end play was within tolerance.

The other.

Nothing extraordinarily wrong that I can see.

I can’t see a wear pattern. Looks rather polished. No damage. No loose metal anywhere.

Same here

Backlash: 0.177 This was my main concern. That clanking sound when I grab the yoke and rotate it back and forth. Even by bare hand, it felt excessive. It seems we are way off !!! As I understand we are after 0.006-0.008

I have had this marking compound for well over 10 years. Maybe even 15. Not sure why I am bothering but I guess for my own edification.

Looks all right... but was expecting it to be yellow.

Looks all right.

Hmmmm. I suppose it’s best to go for a full on rebuild.

Check the posi case really well.
Those tend to show cracks.
Try contacting Gary Ramadei GTR1999, Gary is a great guy and can walk you through the process of the rebuild.
Good luck and have fun.

Well sheeeeeit. UPS will get a complaint for sure. Summit, top performers, immediate sent replacement parts for missing bolts and distorted seal.

Slightly damaged by shipping

FedEx delivered this. No damage that I can see.

This should be a nice change too

I really hate when your all excited about receiving a parcel and you see the box come off the truck looking like that.
If I’m home, I’ll make the driver wait, open the box and inspect the contents.
If anything is damaged, I’ll refuse delivery, take pictures and make the driver take it back.

Yeah. Sadly I was in France and a young buddy of mine took receipt. Like you, I would have been all over UPS.

So

Right. Like you wouldn’t bolt the lever on. So fun. Joygasms (can I say that here? Probably not.) My motivation to carry on is this TKX from Silver Sport Transmissions. The kit looks very good. It was well packed. I’ll take pics of rest of kit later today. It looks really good so far.

More damage I found from crappy UPS service.

Same as above. It will not be visible with pointer and damper on. Nonetheless, it was 90 minutes of work carefully straightening the edge out (not dent) and worrying about future leaks.

Chasing threads.

You’re braver than I am.
I’d send that cover and anything else damaged back to Summit and demand the send replacements next day shipping.
But then I’m only a three hour drive to their Reno Nevada warehouse.

A few hours of cleaning, marine clean, metal prep and POR15 engine enamel. Not a perfect job but it’ll do.

Best $460 I ever spent !!! Job well done. Metalized (whatever that means) and two coats of powder. Plus several parts extra done. All threads plugged. And VIN not coated.

Muscle was home today (my daughter, my son and his partner). We flipped the frame and put it in my garage. Just a few more items to refurbish and the assembly can rebuild.

That vinyl floor could stand to be replaced.

I must admit, bolting in the crossmember is going to be a highlight
