With all the hype about the OE Michelin Pilot Super Sport ZP tires that we have been warned against driving with a loss of traction below 40 degrees F and not to drive in near freezing conditions on snow or ice what are we supposed to do in the colder climates?
C5 and C6 owners can use Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus in a ZP version and are just fine. Standard C7 users also have that option, but Z51 buyers have been left out in the cold literally! Michelin does not make available a run flat All Season tire in the size required for the Z51 package!
Chevrolet Customer Service recently sent me their recommendation "Pilot Alpin PA4" for the cold months! Why would they come up with a Non Run Flat recommendation?
Why not just get Michelin to manufacture the Pilot Sport A/S Plus ZP for the Z51 buyers? After all, aren't they the OE Supplier for the C7?
Just open the door! It is HARD on the car to slam a hatch with the doors closed! Least on any C6 sounds the same on C7!
Perhaps that'll help, I'll try it when it gets back from the shop. They should just lower the windows when the trunk is opened then, just like they do when you open the door. That seems like a silly oversight.
Update on 1719: The car was severely pulling to the right. After being in the shop for over a week the dealer received new tires and put them on the car this morning. According to them, the car drives perfectly straight now. I picked her up an hour ago, but it is pouring rain now so not fair to judge the driving performance. Will provide more of an update later.
The chirping 3 times when taking the key out of the car while the car is running irks me to no end. Called a dealer, GM customer service and read the manual, no way to turn this off. It's a pain when switching cars at 5am and waking the neighbors up or when filling up at the gas station. You would think there should be a way for this to be on/off and not on all the time.
You should consider this a safety feature to keep you from blowing yourself up ... who is dumb enough the leave the motor running when filling up at the gas station?
Does the three chirps actually wake up the neighbors? How may have complained about it?
I have to slam my hatch when the windows are up. If I don't, then I have to use both hands and really push down hard and fast to get the hatch to close. I agree that the hatch should be a little easier to close, but it's really a very minor issue. There are a lot bigger issues here, like the infotainment screen issue!
1190 miles and heard my first Squeak today. Coming from the right rear. Sounds like a mouse. I figure it's a shock or suspension part. Only does it on streets with undulation. Don't hear it on rough patches, bumps, or seams. I'm not worried about it at this point unless it gets louder.
Vin#3830 NRB/Gray,Auto,2LT,Perf. Ex., Nav, Machined Alum. Wheels....Drove our new Stingray back from Bowling Green 11/7. The car is absolutely beautiful; beautiful finish and fit...GM can be proud of this generation Corvette. After 680 miles, I am hearing a subtle "squeak" in the rear of the car....sounds more like a "chirp"; the sound is random and occurs often. Sound is loud enough to be heard over the radio. I live in central Pa. and don't plan to take the Vette to my local dealer with this problem until the Spring. Sounds like our "squeak" is similar; I would be interested to learn if you follow through with your dealer and have the situation corrected.
Regarding the squeak: I'm getting the occasional squeak too. Been reading other posts, I think it's our baffles for the NPP. When I get time I'm gonna see if there's an easy way to oil the mechanism. If so, would be easier than going to the dealer, plus knowing I could handle it myself .

Do you have NPP?

I can turn the NPP on and off and duplicate the squeak most of the time.
Took it into the dealer and they could not duplicate it.
any news on the door rattle issue? Sound and base are not even up half way, and both doors rattle (from the outside of the car) really bad. You can't tell from the interior ,but for some reason it's obvious something is wrong from the exterior.
I will be taking it to the dealer, but wanted to know if anyone else is reporting this issue within this thread. On another thread many people are experiencing the same thing.

I typically don't leave the car running when filling up the car, but my neighbors don't appreciate it when I bring the groceries in, bring the garbage cans in, or step out of the car to do anything with it still running. It is pretty annoying -- and stupid that you can't turn it off.
But on a serious note, that's not normal. Mine doesn't do that at all.
Unless you have the radio cranked up, with some really weird beats, that's not normal. I've never heard anything like that come from my car, but I haven't stood outside it with the radio cranked yet either.
You would have to drive it to dry the rotors. Both my GT-R's and my GT500 will do this if the car isn't driven after being washed. Nissan actually has a recommendation in the owners manual to drive the car in order to dry the rotors before parking it after a wash.

Found today that when I turn the car on (not running, but on) there is a strange noise coming from the back end. It is a rapid ticking sound and seems to be coming from under the car. Anyone know what it is?

Geeez...this topic has been covered like a billion times, not to mention a video on how to "properly" close it
