I just had my screen changed out on my corvette. It would blink in and out at different times. I didnt want to get it changed out since my dash would have to be removed but the dealership did a good job. Also my car sounded bad when i drove it and they figured out the torque tube had a bad bearing that i am awaiting on that part to get changed out, overall not bad considereding all the users with paint issues .
Just had the latest heating and air conditioning update applied to my C7 Z51. The controls work weird now. Push the auto button and the air conditioning also engages. Turn off the air conditioning and the auto button also disengages. If I want heat directed to both the floor and dash and push that button, it automatically engages the air conditioning.
Took it back to the dealer. They just had a new C7 convertible come off the truck so we checked how the latest production cars operate. They operate the same way. This appears to make no sense or is confusing at best. It certainly does not operate the way the owners manual describes. My vehicle was built Sept 11, 2013 - an early production model but the newest production seems to be just as quirky. Is GM going to address this????
Actually it's perfectly logical for the Air Conditioning to engage in Auto, because in Auto you are asking the system to heat or cool to maintain the correct temperature. Just because the Air Conditioning is "on" doesn't mean it's actually doing anything unless the Temperature is higher than the set point. The Air conditioner also dehumidifies the air to prevent the windows from fogging up in damp, cool, and/or humid weather.

The day I was supposed to pick up my vette was Oct. 6, the screen was flipping out . Screen replaced. Picked up the next day. The week of 1/13, rattle underneath. torque tube bad. Replaced 1/27. Brought car home, Service rear axle light comes on. Week of 2/28 told new rear end ordered. Picked up car 3/10 with new rear. . No problems for the last 800 miles. Make sure your dealer knows how to replace the torque tube. There have been horror stories.
Three problems with mine and my car was quarantined in Nashville for three weeks before I got it from the dealer!!! GOOD LUCK!!

Perfectly normal, even systems without auto can turn on the AC compressor if it needs to de-humidify. My 2000 Silverado would do it in certain conditions, our 2007 Avalanche does it in Auto as needed. It should be in your owners manual.
more Black screen of Death (BSD) & Bluetooth problems
Here are more pics of BSD's and bluetooth problem.
Occasionally after BSD, "loading maps" pops up, but not every time. I don't push the screen up/down button anymore just to see if it fixes itself. Sometimes it does, sometimes not.
Bluetooth cuts out when BSD happens, but cell phone retains call, so I just switch sound from bluetooth to phone speaker.
cell battery power symbol on dash does not follow battery power in phone. This pic was taken right before I pulled up battery strength on phone. It was at 37%.
Still convinced it's a software glitch, but will bring it up with dealer when I do first oil change in a week or so.
Still love the car!

You guys and gals are awesome. My VIN is 1631 and I have been interacting and watching this site for quite some time.
Every item I discussed was coached/ mentored or addressed by a forum member within a day or so. My dealr who is also awesome stated that my information was better than his, again, do to this forum.
Thanks guys and gals for the support. Waiting for a new or improved infotainment unit and any other upgrades since my purchase in Aprill and pick up at the end of September.
I have read many comments herein in regards to "free" oil changes from Chevy dealers, yet I have not seen a definitive answer that yes when I drive my Stingray to dealer I will get free oil change. I want some kind of reference so that my service advisor does not blow me off..

You might want to be sure your DIC is yelling that it needs a change. They won't do it for your 1,000 mile feel good change.
Just had the base wheels powder coated gloss black on my torch red black racing stripes C7. When they went to re-balance the wheels they find that all 4 Michelin tires are out of round. Only 800 miles, is this possible?
I hope I do not run into the same problem... I just had my rims that I bought from rsvette12 (on this site) powder coated gloss black and am going to switch out tires this coming week. I hit a few places that turned me away - not wanting any part of touching my car or rims, including the local Chevy dealer in Homewood, IL. Why would my local dealer not want to touch a new Corvette's wheels/tires? They stated that they did not have the capability, yet they were trying to sell me a vette well over sticker in December. Today I spoke with a local Goodyear tire dealer that said they would do it no problem. I only have about 200 miles on my car, so I hope everything goes smoothly. I wanted to stay with GM with regard to doing any work on my new baby - do not understand why I would be turned away, especially by a dealership that is selling them...

The low profile, stiff sidewalks on run flats requires special tire mounting equipment, if you don't want your rims damaged. My large Chevy, BMW, Mercedes dealer sends the tires to the shops in town that have that equipment and technicians who spend their time changing tires! When I bought new tires for my C6 from one of these shops they still put their best tech on that job. I checked with other Vette owners before I took my car there.

That's the problem with the "free" oil change. My dealer won't do it till the DIC is down to about 10%. That will put me way past 6,000 miles for the first one. I might have to do two before then and make sure not to reset the oil life monitor.
It is your warranty book....first 24K is free scheduled maintenance. You didn't check this when you bought the car?
someone at the dealership should have gone over all of your warrantied items, if for nothing else to sell you more of their "extended" stuff. I was there for about 2 hours! while he babbled on and on about how gm's warranty isn't really all that good..blah blah. and that I should pay $3500 more to "really get my car covered".... sorry, didn't mean to veer, that Dude just really chapped my hide.....

Well, for me, whenever I receive my C7 it will happen. For now it is rolling on the rails

Hello! Sorry it has taken so long for the update, I wanted to talk to GM before I posted anything.
So basically the engine is seized, they cannot get it to turn over no matter what they do. They do not know why it is seized. GM had a new engine shipped to the dealership, ready to install, the day after we found out the engine was toast. I told the dealer to hold off on installing the engine for several reasons:
• I am worried that because the techs do not know the root cause of the engine failure, a new engine may not fix the root problem, leading to more down time, and another safety issue
• the engine failure was a huge safety concern. I lost all control of the vehicle, no power steering no power brakes, no airbags. another engine failure would be unacceptable
• I do not want to have any other problems with the vette and have to pursue a car replace via lemon law, my dad does not have the time for this, i bought this car for him so he could drive it, not wait
• techs do not know the root cause! did the electronics fry the engine, or did the engine fry the electronics? I do not know and GM does not know
I thought about this for awhile. I have asked GM to put in writing that if the new engine goes into the car and I have another single problem with either the engine, or the electronic issues related to the engine management system, that they agree to a new car, right then and there. My worse fear is that there could be gremlins that plague the care after the engine swap. I am asking GM to step up and replace the car, and not require us to adhere to the timeline that the lemon law states (30 days in shop, or 4 repairs for the same thing). My dad does not have time for this. GM is supposed to get back to me about this request Tuesday or Wednesday of this week. So far all they have said is that "We will do the right thing".
I authorized the engine swap today, should be all buttoned by the end of this week, early next week. I will keep you posted.
