When you buy your car from one dealer (usually out-of-state and far away) and they have your car shipped directly from Bowling Green to a dealer local to you. That "Courtesy Dealer" performs that PDI, and handles registration, etc for a nominal fee.
I see also known as a drop shipment. Then it is that dealership that accepted the drop shipment to do all paperwork and preparation.
I started a thread for this very reason, and most of the posters disagreed with me.
GM needs to take the C8 and follow the strategy of the Porsche 911. Make subtle change on the appearance while improving the car. Every time Chevy gets close to fixing all the bugs, they introduce a new generation with a list of new issues. The C8 is far too complicated for the average weekend mechanic, which is another reason for GM to stick with C8 design and just keep improving it.
I just found out that my 2023 no longer has a key cylinder for the hatch. A bad battery is not what I’m worried about, but rather the solenoid that unlocks it, taking a crap. Then what?
Don't think for a minute that Porsche doesn't have issues. After 4 911s, there were plenty of issues to go around. One of there worst being the intermediate shaft bearing which destroyed many engines. Just saying, nothing is perfect.
@RedDogTim Please, for the love of everyone else, do not complain to or about Macmulkin for this. If you asked for and accepted courtesy delivery, just as I did, you waived Macmulkin of post delivery work like this. You will just get courtesy delivery options killed for everyone in the future, including you and me potentially. They don’t have the car and the car was not delivered to them. The courtesy delivery dealer is in charge of what happens with the car now, so direct any attention/complaints to them or gm directly.
I don’t blame MacMulkin for this at all. They appear to be assisting the CD dealer in their attempts to fix the front lift. My question was do I own the car at this point because I have paid for it? MacMulkin requires payment within 7 days of the car being built. There is no way to inspect the car until well after payment. There are also docs that need to be signed apparently at the time of payment. So- do I own the car even though I haven’t seen it and PDI is not complete and repairs are underway?
I believe you own the car. When you paid for the car, MM did the bill of sale. I had a problem with the rear window on my HTC, discovered when the courtesy delivery dealer was doing the PDI (back in January 2021). It took a week and a half for the service department to get tech support from GM to help them solve the problem. The “in service” date (start of warranty) was the date on the bill of sale from MM, not the date I eventually picked up the car. Which, all considered, is not a big deal to me.
I had asked MM before delivery what would happen if I refused the car on delivery day (due to some major problem). The answer was that it was possible to do that, I didn’t ask for details on how that would play out though.
I am posting this under this section, but Its not really a huge "problem" because it all covered under warranty.......but .....
My interior drivers door release button that functions to operate and open the door stopped popping back or springing back out into the unpressed position on my 2020 all of a sudden. ( stays depressed permanently and won't allow the door to open, I have to use the manual floor release when this happens)
OK, no biggie, the dealer orders an new assembly and replaces it and it works fine for about 6 months when all of a sudden the same button does the exact same thing and will not release. The dealer is replacing it again under warranty, no issues.
But, The dealer service writer shook his head dismayed and said they are having components fail more frequent and claims that the issue is that a lot of these small parts are made in China even though they are true GM OEM replacement parts. Its being replaced again under warranty, no biggie for me, But I was curious...
Anyone else experience this issue/component failure ?

Mine did the exact same thing, drivers side, used the floor pull to exit, except mine is a 22…
Planned to wait a couple of months and a few hundred miles so that I could have my one free oil change/DCT service and the button all taken care of in a single dealer visit. After 4/5 weeks the button re-began to work one day and has been working fine ever since. Go figure….
Picked up the car with 3 miles. Drive home in very little rain but to my surprise the bottom of the frunk was soaking wet. Can anybody tell me why? I only have 120mi on the clock so as soon as they open I’ll be calling for sure.
Definitely call, but it was probably some mishap during PDI that they won't be able to identify. I would dry it out, then spray all over with water and drive in the rain some more, see if it happens again.

Yeah I definitely don’t know how water would get only in the bottom of the frunk. Dropping it off Monday, 143miles on the clock. What a great way to start off C8 ownership. Dealer even said last leaks they had took 2 months to fix clean and all that.

The only thing I can think of is not fully closing it the last 'click' during PDI, then washing it.
I hadn’t found any problems with my C8 and have been impressed with everything. Well, I guess there is always something that can pop up. A week after the last time change I noticed that I was off an hour. I lose track of time when I am driving around so it didn’t matter too much. I have the time set to “Automatic” so it was puzzling since the fall change reset properly. My guess is that I got the car right before the last time change and the radio was set to some station playing current music. After I got the car home I set it to Sirius XM channel 27, Deep Tracks. All proper music from the 60s - 80s. If the clock sprung forward it would clash with the vibe of the times. I think GM got it right?

The weird thing is it’s only the bottom that was wet. The walls were not so much and the day I drive home it rained. There was also the bag of stuff that come with the z51. Going to dealer tomorrow. I’ll let you know what they said. In Friday he said “last time it took 2 months to find and fix the leak”. That’s a great feeling for a 143 mile car.
agree. I experienced the same. Although I didn’t take NCM delivery of my C8 for another 2 months after completing the paperwork at my dealer - the GM service dates are all associated with my dealer transaction - not NCM.
Posting my issue to the sticky thread for others to see (I have a separate thread that will eventually be buried).
200 miles of a great time (break in driving but still fun!), then DCT throwing codes and back to the dealer. Codes below - full diagnosis coming but they are thinking it's going to be a replacement.
Love the car, but DAMN! Not a great welcome to the Corvette family for me.

Ah, the joys of owning a C8 with the Tremec DCT!
I'm on my 3rd transmission with my 2021.
So glad I purchased the extended warranty when I did.
GM no longer offers the extended warranty.
I wonder why 🤔

If you've had 3 transmissions replaced, I would begin to question if it's something else that has been overlooked that is causing the transmission to fail?

What transmission failures have you had that wouldn't have been covered by the 5 year powertrain warranty?
