The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
Should be about 550-575 Net HP since that motor is rated Gross HP (crate engine) versus the LS7 rated at 505 NET HP (as installed in a vehicle). Either way your 79 will haul a**.
BTW-Took a ride in a family neighbors 04 M5 BMW with 160,000 miles on the odometer in South Carolina yesterday.
Stock M5 with double overhead cam V8 (400 net HP when new). This young gent installed an underhood supercharger on this car that cranks out 550 Net HP and, holy smokes, with long tube headers and Corsa exhaust this 4 door screams like my 10C6Z06..it is that fast....spins the tires rolling at any speed in 1st or second gear (6 speed) at will and sounds like an american V8. He bought the car with 140,000 miles on it for $5,500 (stole it) and it really looks great as well...sorry to digress...HP is HP..LOL

Trials and tribulations aside, I am looking forward to the next chapter in this cars journey.
This new engine should be down right scary in that chassis.

Will do Bee Jay.
What are your plans for engine management with the new engine? Are you going to stick with the carb manifold? or more traditional fuel injection for an LS3? This car looks like it would a kickass setup for the Holley Terminator system.
Do you still think the 700R4 will hold up?
We were just thinking about you a few days ago and I was searching for your frame rail mod thread, because I'd like to try squeezing 315s under the back of my car and wanted to see how you did it.
I think with that new motor you'll be looking for even more grip back there.

I guess there are no LS7 to LS3 conversion threads, so I’ll just keep adding to this one if that is OK.
