C8 problems
Went to open my car in the garage, was locked...
Hummm, I never lock it.. maybe I hit the FOB in my pocket or something..
Grabbed it, pulled handle, wouldn't open.
Used FOB it opened, heard the actuator by the gas cap clicking non stop...
Started car, while in Park, it immediately locked.
Pressed door release, nothing, would not open
Pressed unlock, nothing. stayed locked
Manual lever to exit.
Checked all Passive settings etc, were set to OFF.
Did this a few times, car off, door immediately locked on its own, while I was just sitting in it, and then while standing in the garage, again with 0 response to pressing the lock/unlock buttons while inside the car.
Called my tech, said probably a "logic" malfunction, remove negative cable for 30 seconds.
Working normal now, we'll see if this happens any more.

Cutting through the puzzlement of various people at the dealership, the paint guy said it looks like they forgot a bit of clear coat. The mid-layer (this is a tint coat) is hygroscopic.
The funny part is that as soon as it dries, it looks almost perfectly normal. Once I know it's there, I can tell the paint is not as bright, but for the ~2 months I had the car before it started raining (including a couple of times I washed it by hand), I had not noticed anything. It takes about 20 minutes of water staying on the paint for it to start looking white and very soft.
The first time I saw it, by the time I drove to the dealer (about 10 miles) it was dry and you could not see anything.
Repainting the fender will be done under warranty, but it's taking a while. I brought the car last Monday June 26th and it's not ready yet, I should have it tomorrow July 5th.. They took the bumper off to remove the fender. Interestingly, the service technician asked me if I had noticed the door did not open all the way. I said no, I am careful not to force anything and I stop as soon as I feel resistance. He pointed out a small scratch on the driver door because one of the screws securing the fender (the one that goes in the green circle in the picture below) was too long and the door was actually stopping against that screw instead of the normal door stop. If I had pushed all the way, I would have caused more damage, but still there was a small scratch on the door which they are fixing as well. I am glad he was thorough. Honestly I can't fault QA for not noticing that a bit of clear coat was missing, but the wrong screw hitting the door is something I would not expect to see by the time the car gets to the customer because you just have to look at it to see it's the wrong screw, and the service technician immediately noticed there was something wrong with the door.

This car would not start one day. It had been driven the day before and is garage kept under a cover on the charger every time it’s not being used. It’s absolutely babied. So the dash is backlit but nothing is displayed and the car won’t even engage the starter. He calls the dealer and they give him a bunch of things to try, none of them work. Call roadside assist, they come and refuse to tow the car as it can’t go into neutral. Now at this point back on the phone with the dealer. This circus started in march and finally after driving to the dealer and meeting the new shop forman in June they agree to send someone to the house. A month later it’s now the beginning of july, 4 people from the dealer show up and begin trying this and that. Eventually they manage to get it in neutral and out on the driveway ready to be towed, they taped the bag over the window and said someone will be here soon, nobody showed. The next day we called and nobody showed up. Called the dealer and they didn’t say much. It’s now still sitting in the driveway and it’s the weekend. It’s been storming occasionally and I think the tape and garbage bag might not be stopping water from going in the car. I called the gm Canada customer service line just before 9 and the lady herd what I had to say then told me to call gm Canada and gave me the same number I just called. I even said can you have someone call us this is really bad and we need help. Anyone else have an idea on what to do here… another neighbor said call the insurance company at this point. We can’t even push it back into the garage where it would be dry. Here’s a photo of it when they left…

They purchased all of the tornado damaged new C8’s from the Bowling Green factory. Obviously not new and would be painted but might be of help.

But to get back to your friend's C8, I would think that there must be a way to lift the rear and push the car into the garage with the help of some people. Heavy machinery movers are experts in doing things like this.
By the way, Lotus is also having lots of electronic/software issues with their Emira in the UK. The powertrain is fairly bulletproof (Toyota/Edelbrock), but everything else is prone to failure, it seems.
